A summer Friday

So today was cool.

I'll take Tony's approach and summarize in order:

- Woke up at 8. Shower/breakfast.
- Went into lab at 9 and got acquainted with / set up preferences on my lab network computer, Aquila.
- Took a trip at 10 to Prof. Crawford's house with Nick and Jeff to help him move some new furniture in. Met the lovely Crawford family.
- Got treated to lunch by Prof. Crawford for helping out with the furniture-moving; also at lunch was Dr. Robert Harrison of Oak Ridge National Labs, a computational science expert dude.
- Came back to lab and worked on my molecular geometry code for a couple of hours (currently working on numerically diagonalizing an inertia tensor).
- Had an REU group meeting at 3:30, where we had a lecture on scientific ethics and gave brief overviews of our research topics.
- Came back to the dorm around 5pm and had a snack with Robert and Mistry.
- Watched some TV in the lounge and then met up with Hoppy!
- Went out to an Italian restaurant for dinner with Hoppy and half the REU crew.
- Played volleyball with an oversized bouncy ball. Ran into one of Hoppy's VT friends, Jesse.
- Said bye to Hoppy around 9:30; headed back to the dorm with Steph, John, Greg, Pam, and Jesse, who hung around with us for a while. I love how simply being on a college campus completely drops all need for formal introductions or pretenses.
- Had a small party in Pam's room.
- Played poker with Robert, Mistry, and John.
- Typed this entry.

Tomorrow we're going hiking. Things are going well.
