I arrive a little late to the party thanks to Elle ellectricbitch, but at least we’re not too late, only about a half hour or so. It could have been worse.

I start looking around at the people there. There are a few familiar faces, but I don’t know most of these people. Makes sense, since I’ve only just become an agent.

Staying close to Elle, we make our way in. I try to keep her a little off to the side, far away from the bar area, though I know I won’t be able to stop her if she decides she’d like a drink, it isn’t like she’s underage. I personally won’t be having anything like that though (I’m a recovering alcoholic), so at least she’ll have someone sober around to make sure she doesn’t do anything too crazy. She’ll be meeting a lot of people tonight, and first impressions are important.

I take a few steps away from Elle, looking around for someone to introduce myself too. This place will probably feel a lot more like home once I’ve gotten to know the other agents.

After awhile, I decide to re join Niki. Spotting her across the room, I run up and tackle hug her, giving her a zap with a big grin on my face. "Niki! Did you miss me?"

As I walk around the party, looking for some new faces to talk to, I feel someone fly into me, and we both fall down, sending one of my high heels spinning across the floor.

I'm trying to figure out what just happened and who just took me out then I feel the tell-tale zap of electricity. Looks like Elle got a little bored. Or maybe it's just Elle being Elle.

"Elle!" I hiss at her. "What do you think you're doing?! You can't just run behind someone and tackle them like that! Especially not here, in front of everyone!" I look around to see if anyone had noticed. "Want to get off of me so I can go get my shoe?" I nudge her a little.

"And I definitely don't miss you now!" I sigh. I'm not particularly angry at her, but sometimes, I could do with just a little less excitement in my life!

"Oh, Niki. This is a party! Tackle hugs are acceptable here, don't you know that?" I get off her and toss her her shoe. "It's not like anybody here cares. I bet most people here are drunk anyway. The bar here is awesome."

I catch my shoe and put it back on, standing up and brushing myself off. "This isn't that kind of party, have you seen anyone else jumping on people like that? Neither have I." For some reason, I let it all go. I've been learning how to deal with Elle for a little while now, and I'm learning it's no use to try and explain social norms to her, or tell her what she can and can't do. You have to pick your battles with this one.

"They don't look drunk to me. Most of them don't anyways." It's alright though, I don't think many people saw. "Is that where you've been this entire time? At the bar?? I was wondering where you'd gone off to."

"It's a party, Niki. All parties are this kind of party." Why do I have to explain such simple concepts to her?

"And not the entire time... Just part of the time. Barbara and I got margaritas. Wanna get one with me? They're almost as good as Slushos."

"Oh, I see." I nod, knowing full well all parties aren't that kind of party as she'd tried to explain to me.

"I would! But I can't... recovering alcoholic." It's true, I really do wish I could. I hate turning Elle down when she's trying to be nice like that. I hope that doesn't put a damper on the mood.

"No... Please?" I tug on her arm. "You can ask for one without alcohol!"

"Alright, fine. I guess I can do that." I let her lead me over to the bar and I order a virgin margarita with Sprite instead of tequila. Usually I wouldn't even put myself in an an environment like this, the temptation isn't easy. But I've been sober for several years now, and I have a lot more control than I used to.

When my drink arrives I smile at the bartender and thank him before turning back to Elle. "Are you ordering another one too? How many have you had tonight?" If she's already had a lot to drink, I might have to step in and say no if she tries to order another one. A little buzzed is fine, but if she gets herself to the point of being blackout drunk, we all might be in some trouble!

"Two? Uhhhh, wait... I don't know, one of my other drinks might have been spiked so maybe three?" I shrug. "But let's just go with one, that sounds better. And yeah I'm ordering another, I mean, have you tried these things? They're amazing."

"No, Elle I haven't tried one because I can't, remember? But yes," I raise my virgin margarita up a little, gesturing to it. "They are good. Though I think you've had enough for one night. What would Barbara think if she knew you were spending your entire time here drinking and shocking people?"

I gently take her by the wrist and start trying to lead her away. "I'm sure we can find something more fun to do, anyways."

"What are you talking about? She expects this kind of behavior from me. Besides, I didn't kill anyone and I'm not even really drunk or anything." I sigh and walk away with her anyway, finishing the rest of my margarita and placing the empty glass down on a random table.

"What else can we do then?"

"I suppose she does." Can't argue with that. "I'd imagine she is pretty accustomed to... how you are now."

"I don't really know, we could just talk? Or look for some other people to introduce ourselves to."

I remember what I'd read earlier on the list of who was rooming with who, I figure that might be something interesting to bring up. "I'm rooming with a vampire, can you believe it? DIdn't know those were real until I got here. Haven't met him yet though. And you... you're rooming with a different Elle. Have you met her yet? I'd imagine that would be very strange, meeting another version of yourself."

"Oooh a vampire? I can try to kill him if you want!"

"I am?" I raise an eyebrow at her. "What do you mean? There's another version of me running around?" I scan the room with my eyes but I don't see her. "That's... strange. I don't know how I'm going to react if I run into her... Should I shock her? Or would that be weird?"

"No, no! Don't, don't even go near him. I don't even think you can kill vampires anyways, and I haven't even met him yet. For all I know, he's very nice and friendly."

"Yeah, that's what I mean. There's another Elle Bishop working here. And how should I know whether you should shock her or not? Think about it this way... if she shocked you, how would you react to her?"

"Okay, but if he's a jack ass, call me and I'll shock him. Even if it can't kill him, I'm sure it would be fun anyway."

"If she tried to shock me...?" I push my eyebrows forward in concentration. This is a tricky one. "I think I'd shock her back twice as hard as she shocked me."
