Didn't they warn you about that in 'working for the company 101?'

Jul 15, 2012 13:46

Who: Adam Monroe (adam_monroerb), Future Hiro (jadedtimetravlr), and eventually (revvedupfem)
What: The way the meeting really went. AKA- mostly a meeting type thing, you know the whole, I'm so and so, who are you? want to destroy the world together? Sure! Will be a blast!... Ok not really about the destroy the world together thing.
When: During the PARTY
Where: The party hall, etc...
Rating/Notes: PG-ish (No violence, or anything. Surprisingly enough) Erm normally rude Hiro, and normally charming Adam. Had to make it a narration (almost a fan fic), since all of these characters are mine.
Warnings: Kind of long-ish.

What was the point of this party again? Oh yes, to meet all the new agents. How wonderful..... Not really. Adam was not amused by this, but figured might as well see what the big fuzz was about. The truth was, he was still searching for a way out of this company. He needed to find a way to oppose all these idiots some way or the other, but it wasn't going to be that easy, obviously. Instead of letting that worry him, tonight, he let his guard down a little and stepped right into the party hall. Well, wasn't this amusing? He looked around and saw a few familiar faces, and some faces he thought he had gotten over seeing. Hiro.... The little bastard was here with that little bodyguard of his, and..... When his eyes scanned the same area he saw..... HIRO again? WHAT?

He blinked a bit, and tilted his head. Ok, so he was aware that some people came in doppelgangers around here. He wasn't aware that Hiro did, AT ALL. This was going to make his night wasn't it? He studied the older version of the little Japanese twerp and found the differences quite amusing. Who was this version of Hiro? How? How was he even possible? He had to find out tonight. In the meantime, he headed over to the drinks table and got himself some scotch. Screw the appletinis. This was going to be a very interesting night, thank goodness.

When he saw the 'very different' version of Hiro alone at the table he headed over to him and smiled. "Hello there, I'm guessing you're new around here." He grinned."I'm Adam Monroe, nice to meet you."

Hiro had been talking to Dean before the man had seen one of the pretty ladies and left him to go flirt with them. He had encouraged Dean too, and after getting the hell teased out of him by the hunter, he figured he might as well get rid of him like that. Dean had mostly been teasing him about having come into the party with Max. So what if he came with Max? They were just friends. Couldn't friends come to parties together? ... He could almost hear Dean making some silly argument about that inside his head. Drink in hand Hiro headed over to one of the empty tables and sat down quietly. He wasn't much for the whole socializing bit, so he was ok being on his own.

Of course, tonight being alone wasn't going to happen. He caught something or someone in his peripheral vision and turned regarding the man quietly. This man was not familiar to him. Hiro almost tilted his head trying to figure out who this was. Considering the future that he came from, there really was no way that he'd gone and spent time in the past visiting his hero Takezo Kensei, and basically causing a mess in the man's life. Nope, that whole chapter of his life had been erased. Other very important things had happened to him during those five years. None had involved Adam.

"Erm, hello." He was serious as he nodded back at Adam, still regarding him with quite a bit of curiosity. Why was he being all .... 'friendly'? Or maybe he was just trying to mingle? Really did he have a sign on him that said, 'HEY I'M QUIET SITTING HERE ALONE COME AND TALK TO ME!'?

Adam grinned widely at this absolutely stunning piece of work. Look at that... Hiro looked like he'd grown up. Was this really a different version of Hiro? A Hiro from another reality? A Hiro that perhaps didn't know him? That would be quite convenient. "What's your name? I didn't quite get it."

.... And pushy... This guy was pushy. What the hell. Hiro sighed inwardly and glared a bit at the man, but then remembered that the idiot was just being friendly or whatever. "I'm Hiro."

BINGO... Well wasn't that amusing? "Really Hiro? Are you from around here?" Of course, he knew he wasn't. Adam knew so much about Hiro, but weirdly enough, not much about this one.

Hiro arched a brow at the guy, really wanting to call him out on the obvious. "No I'm not from around here. Different reality, all that stuff. Didn't they warn you about that in 'working for the company 101?'" Ok, so he was being unnecessarily rude, but... Well, Hiro was not very patient. At least this particular version wasn't. Specially when some weirdo he'd never met, came around all friendly and was trying to get all chummy with him.

Was that rudeness coming from Hiro? By God, if Adam knew any better he'd be kissing the hell out of this version of the little Japanese nightmare. Whose side of whose bed did this adorable man wake up on? This was... This was no other word for it 'amazing'. "Well, I might have missed those classes, you know. Or I might have even dozed off." He grinned, trying to figure out what was going on here. And was that a perfect 'American' accent on the man too? That was even more amusing to him.

Hiro arched a brow and scoffed a little. He couldn't help but smile a bit at that, though. At least this guy wasn't as easily offended by his rudeness. Kudos to him. People had to be very strong headed or mostly just strong minded to deal with someone like Hiro. Well, someone like future Hiro. He was often rude, brutally honest, dismissive, sometimes cold. "Well, I'm not from this reality, yaddah, yaddah... Stuck here, blah blah. I'm from the future, etc."

When Hiro mentioned he was from the future, Adam finally felt like he'd seen the light. So that's why this version of Hiro was so much more erm, amazing. Really, he never thought he would be able to withstand having a conversation with him for more than a few minutes, without wanting to strangle him, or jumping him to start bludgeoning his head with some sharp object. Something about this 'future' Hiro made him want to just stay and find everything out. He did consider the options he might have here, as well. This guy was not apologetic about who he was. He was mostly rude, not very friendly, and Adam was good because he'd been able to determine that in just a few sentences that he'd heard the man utter. The MAN, he never thought he'd think of Hiro like this.

Adam couldn't help it, he looked from this version of Hiro and around the dance hall, until he found the younger version, who at the moment seemed entertained dancing with Omi. Huh.... He looked back at future Hiro and grinned again. "The future, really now?"

Hiro shrugged, "You know, you're making this all about me. What about you, Adam Monroe? What's your deal? How do you know Sylar and Peter?" That could be a trick question under any other type of circumstance, but not tonight. Tonight was golden. Well, at least to one of them it was. To Hiro this was just annoying. This guy.... Go away, he wanted to dance with Max. Where was Max anyway? Hiro stopped looking at Adam for a bit to search for Max around the party hall. Oh there she was... She looked so gorgeous, he smiled a bit.

Adam noticed this, he noticed how Hiro had avoided talking about that future of his. That was code for, something very interesting must've happened, probably even shameful. When he studied the older Hiro a bit more he traced the man's eyes to see what he'd been looking at. He noticed him looking out into the party hall a bit, longingly? Was that a longing look on his face? There was someone of interest to him out there, obviously. Adam decided to be brave and or presumptuous mostly and decided to go with what he felt was happening here. "You should just go ask her to dance."

Her? What if the person was a 'he'? Nah, he had no idea if Hiro was into guys, and he wasn't interested in that, he was just interested in keeping his attention. See what made him tick. A person like Hiro as an ally. That would be quite a score. He had to make sure this went down smoothly. Of course, if this version of Hiro spoke to his 'younger' version, the annoying one would probably tell him all this rubish about him being a bad man and blah blah, the past, Takezo Kensei, The Shanti Virus, blah blah blah. All nonsense really. All that was in the past. He had to find a way to keep it away from this Hiro, though.

Hiro turned to look at the man a bit annoyed. "That's not the answer to my question, Adam. I asked you what your deal was, not for you to tell me to go ask someone to dance."

Adam arched a brow... Wow... He hated to admit this version of Hiro was so much more amusing and less annoying. Not to mention fearless. Answers like that could get you in so much trouble in many places. He wondered if this Hiro didn't care much about that. Obviously he didn't. "Oh well, what can I say? I know Peter, mostly. Him and I go back a few years. We worked together for a bit." Trying to destroy the world with the shanti virus. "Sylar I have only met as I came into this company, of course."

"What kind of work did you do with Peter?" Hiro's curiosity had peaked when he'd heard Adam say he'd worked together with the empath.

"Just regular field work, you know? Fun stuff like that. Peter was in a sort of transitional period in his life, and I was definitely there to help him out." He was half lying.

Hiro continued to regard him quietly, wondering why he'd been so eager to say hi to him in the first place. Then he asked Adam the million dollar question. Probably more like the dreaded question of all questions. "Did you know my younger self? You know? Hiro Nakamura over there?" He pointed at his younger version who was still out there on the dance floor having fun with Omi. Hiro arched a brow as he saw them actually hugging each other, now that some random ballad was playing. Huh... Guess his younger self was into guys. That distracted him for a bit, but then he went back to looking at Adam and expecting an answer. What it would be, was still to be determined.

Adam cleared his throat, really hoping he wasn't going to look so obvious, but he went ahead with his own game. "Your younger self?" He looked over at Hiro and cringed inwardly. Dammit, think fast Adam, think fast... Not fast enough, obviously.

Hiro noticed the uneasiness. He grinned inwardly at his own discovery. "Let me guess, you and my younger version don't get along very well? And what? You decided to talk to another version of me to see if you could become friends, finally?" He was going on a hunch, mostly.

Adam's eyes would have widened, had he not been so set on keeping this one sided. The side that would benefit him was what he was working for. Cute and smart, lethal combination there. "I did meet him, in the past. It was a confusing period in my life. Nowadays, I'm simply trying to make amends. Follow a different path, make my life mean something. I'm very glad I ended here in The Company, it's such a great opportunity. You know, saving the world and all that, quite important." Erm sure... Maybe he should have added a cherry on top of that. So he did, "I honestly wouldn't have known that was you. I mean, your younger self. You look so different. Could have fooled me." Suuuuuure.

Hiro was very careful while trying to decipher what Adam was saying about his younger self. Of course, he had determined the man was bullshitting about the last part. How the hell could you not know future and younger Hiro were the same person? That was so much bullshit. However, he did keep track of key phrases 'confusing period', 'make amends', 'follow a different path', those three things told him that something interesting had gone down during that period in which he'd met his younger self. Now it was a mission to discover exactly 'what'. He was quiet as he mulled things over inside his head, and he would have gone ahead and asked more questions, had it not been for Max, who finally came up to their table and smiled like she meant it. Hiro was temporarily distracted by her beautiful smile. Hellooooo.... He couldn't help but grin back.

Max waved a bit at Hiro's friend, then leaned in and asked him if he wanted to dance. She then went ahead and sort of apologized to Adam, "Sorry sir, but I'm gonna have to steal him from you a bit. See, he promised me a dance." She grinned widely. "Nice to meet you, I'm Max." She extended her hand out to him and got a nice firm shake in return. She was all smiles tonight, hey she was feeling good. As she finished shaking Adam's hand, Hiro took her hand and she closed hers around quite tightly. Not that she was possessive, but she just felt like squeezing Hiro's hand.

Adam grinned and introduced himself to the lovely young lady that had just approached their table. So this was the girl that Hiro had been looking at. Huh, very very interesting. Guess they still had a lot to talk about. Also, he had to find a way to keep younger Hiro quiet, and or from telling his older version all the atrocities that had happened in the past. Hell, this version of Hiro looked like he'd be quite pissed if he found out Adam had killed his father as well. In the meantime, he nodded at the young lady, and then waved a bit at Hiro. "Nice to meet you Max. And don't worry that's fine, I'll be here all night."

Of course, the rest of the night, he would miss out on talking to Hiro, as the young lady did keep him for the entire duration of the party.

Adam smiled inwardly as he realized a few minutes later that he wasn't getting Hiro back. Guess this version of the Japanese man even had better luck with the ladies. Or maybe just like his younger self, he was stealing someone's woman? Hey, it was possible. Hiro was good at stealing other people's lovers. Made him wonder as well. Instead of sitting down waiting for Hiro to leave Max alone, he got up and walked around the party hall trying introduce himself to different people. Might as well do this.

Future Hiro was on his mind at all times, though. This was going to be quite interesting, he could already feel it. Maybe he did have a mission around here, after all. A mission to corrupt, or finish corrupting an old friend. A new old friend, as weird as it sounded.
