It's an 'excedrin for breakfast' kind of day.
I have had to resort to pulling out the big guns in order to energize myself: my playlist of the bounciest, peppiest, most hair-sprayed pop queens of the eighties. We're talking Samantha Fox and Bananarama here. And as I groove in my desk chair to Naughty Girls Need Love Too, my thoughts turn to cataloging my mood-lifting strategies. Caffeination is probably what I resort to most often, but that's a habit I've been attempting to break since I finished my coursework.
My current repertoire includes:
- Tackling my dearest and demanding a detailed account of all the ways in which I am completely awesome.
- A snack and a big glass of water. Dehydration and low blood sugar are frequent culprits.
- Calling the Sororal Unit.
- Consuming a funny book or tv show.
- Rhythm games like DDR or Rock Band. (Especially playing the drums.
- Playing with the cats.
There's some overlap here with the things I do to relax (listen to soothing music or rainstorm nature sounds, knitting, meditation, pilates, mindless casual computer games, etc), but some days I just need to jump start my energy levels.
