This is the first year I've watched American Idol, and I am...strangely into it. I'm still mad about Normund Gentle/Nick Mitchell getting cut. That performance was the most entertaining thing I've seen on Fox in MONTHS.

I'm holding out hope for the wild card round on Nick--he's so much fun and it's a shame he didn't advance on. That's the best version of that song I've ever heard!

This is my first year watching AI, so dumb question: in the wild card round, do the judges pick the three or is it another public vote?

Either way, I need more Nick (or Normund) on my screen!

Actually, I don't know--this is new (I think--I haven't watched every season), so I don't know who gets to choose. If it's the judges, though, I doubt we'll see Nick/Normund, unless Simon changes his mind or they decide to milk the potential view boost from lovers/haters.
