This has nothing to do with dreams, but I am just so unnecessarily excited...
I just won a $100 gift certificate to buy used books from the library!!! I entered the raffle at this past semi-annual book warehouse sale (when the library system fills an entire warehouse with books) and I can even use it at a future warehouse sale! On the last day of the weekend warehouse sales, you can get a brown bag full of books for $10, so that means I can get TEN BAGS OF BOOKS FOR FREE!
I just love buying books, owning books, holding books, seeing books on my shelf, stocking my classroom with books, previewing new books with my students, and of course reading books myself.
Beth and I were debating the benefits of ebooks versus physical books. I told her that I love holding books. I explained the joy I get when I fold back the front cover or crack the spine for the first time, the way quality paper feels between my fingers, the way an old book smells different than a new book but both smells are intoxicating.
She said I have a book fetish.
She might be right.
