I'm Not Dead...Although I Feel Like Death
Hi there all you loyal readers out there in livejournal land - *bow down on knees and begs for forgiveness* I am soooooo sorry I haven't updated in so long but with the start of school and a pretty busy work and homework schedule I have gotten caught up in the ongoings of the real world and forsaken the digital one. But now that things have settled down somewhat and all that's left for me to worry about is homework...I might be able to schedule in a semi-regular updating now and again. So now that apologises and half-assed explanations are out of the way lets get down the meat of an update...and update.
SCHOOL: In general school ROCKS - it is such an improvement over my past situations that it blows my mind sometimes. The classes are awesome - even though I only have one actual studio class that is for teaching "art skills" all of my lecture classesa re geared towards art students and keeping students interested and creative doing whatever. The classes are as follows -
Enviornment Headline News - fills up my last liberal arts requirement but is technically a science class that is cool becuase all projects can be done in any way we see fit - ie paint, website etc. Even though the information is interesting such as talking about clones, global warming, and glow inthe dark bunnies - its hard not to fall asleep to his monotone voice and the droning of the news clips we watch. Falling asleep in the class is kind of freaky though becuase I have that in halfsleep/half awak thing where I can hear everything that is going on - but I am also dreaming so its like I am sitting in the classroom in my mind and everything is all twisted and the last time I actually fell asleep I dreamt I was in the forest fire the news clip was talking about and I also dreampt that the teacher woke me up by flicking me in the throat (which is untrue although I thought it actually happened for a couple of seconds after)
Art History - Another snooze class since it is an 830 class that consists of dimming the lights and watching slides...zzzzzzzz - but i still managed to pull off an a so far.
Drawing - My only studio class which has both its ups and downs - its an intro course so right now it is a lot of review of stuff i already know - but I am one of the top students in my class and have a straight up a :) the teacher is kind of hot which is fun (think a young lance armstrong with cool emo eyeglasses).
Intro to Aesthetics - which is not what you think it is - its actually an art philosophy class which is why the teacher loves me so much - seeing as how I've taken four other philosophy college courses already and can pretty much slide by without doing the readings and still give the most contribution for the class discussions. The project we have due is kind of cool though we get to choose any artist/art form and relate it to philosophy and give a presentation and I chose graphic novels ie marvel comics and the teacher thought it was an awesome idea so I am supped just to be good at school again (i know - im a dork)
****roomate is cool and listens to the same music that I do and that's all I can ask for
****bunch of friends who I would've never expected to be friends with but its fun knowing people outside of sports for once
HOME: As always distance makes the heart grow fonder and the parental units and I have been getting along a lot better now that we only talk once a week - money is still tight though what with spending my paychecks on art supplies and drinks for the dorm...I try not to think about the 120,000 dollar debt Ill be wracking up these four years or else I get stressed and I am not awesome about taking my meds on a regular basis. Tori has been in a good mood lately - it makes me feel good when she calls unprovoked and wants to talk with me.
WORK: I've cut down to about 20 hours a week although its still a bit hard to manage school work at the same time - I've only had one true day off since school has started so my body tends to get worn down and I think that might also be contributing to the fact that I have trouble staying awake in some of my classes. But work is fun in general - I met another anime/wow buddy in a guy john who just got back from a massive leg trauma - aka walking his dog with a skateboard and its fun to rip on him and his cane at work when we are not talking about fma. Our supervisor is currently nonexistent right now becuase they demoted the other guy for no reason - I thought he was a good supervisor even if the schedules got mixed up sometimes. So I am finally kind of in the flow of things and its not as bad awkward as before.
GENERAL: Went to two parties this weekend for the first time since I have been in florida - it was AWESOME. The first party was the body painting party at new College and was so ridiculously fun it was indescribable; however - that will have to wait for homework calls - ill update tomorow with the details of the weekend and thus start my regularly sceduled updates :)
