So...a few things in this post:
1.) I think I've found my new church home (at least for now...until such a time as God moves me on again :P)
2.) I've got a new phone (

3.) I believe my parents have stumbled upon a revelation in terms of perspective and computer games.
So...first things first. I'm now attending a new church and, in a way...it reminds me of the first church I regularly attended. Similar style of worship, similar atmosphere and setting....but upgraded. It's hard to explain but there is more a sense of truth and interest towards living the walk...rather than just talking it on Sundays. That may change as I continue to learn more but for now, it's nice. :)
Yes...I got a new phone. Spent $100, got my parents onto my plan and even though I added the unlimited data plan to my phone...the overall cost to all of us is just slightly cheaper than previously when they were on T-mobile and I was on Verizon by myself. I still refuse to go to Cingular/ATT...even though the iPhone is quite tempting. Sometimes, being burnt by the customer service sticks with you a long time. That being said, the new phone is quite nice. I can check my e-mail on the go, have google maps with me everywhere, even away from a computer, have instant internet access to just about everything, and I will have the possibility to use Mvelopes later if I choose to grab that service (financial organizer). I bought a cheap service also to sync my phone's calendar to my google calendar to keep myself as organized as possible. It's much easier to use than the daytimer planner I have...no more needing to swap out the book every month. :) Plus, it beeps at me to remind me of things I may have forgotten...I love it. I've also loaded it up with about 50 of my favorite songs so listen to when I feel like it. So...phone and iPod all in one. The other benefit is that it's forcing me to get into the habit of using my Bluetooth headset...which is important as the use of headsets while driving to talk on the phone will soon be law.
Lastly, my parents said they've gotten use to the idea of my time in WoW and enjoyment of the game as a hobby. That seems to change the perception and thoughts about it a lot. A hobby is something socially acceptable, something a person invests time into and learns about, and enjoys most of the time. WoW, or more specifically, the characters one has in WoW, fits all of these. Let's compare it to car projects (another hobby I'm somewhat familiar with). Car hobbyists often research their cars, capabilities, original specs, ideas to improve upon, etc...all dependent on what direction they want their plans to go...and what end product they want out of the car. In the same way, my WoW character is something I research the capabilities of the class/race/upcoming changes, history of class changes, ideas to improve my ability to play the character, etc...all dependent on the direction I want that character to take and where the goal is of the character's development. Looking at it in this light, makes it much less of an "inherent evil" or "addiction" and helps understand the perspective upon it a bit better. Can it be a bad thing in someone's life? You betcha...just like anybody obsessing over a car or anything else.
Anyways...just some food for thought.
