Chapter 1 - The First Meeting
It was another long day of practice for the Shinee members. Each one of them were feeling exhausted and just sprawled themselves on the cold floor to ease the lethargic feeling away for a moment.
“Boys, you need to change now. It’s getting late.” Manager Choi said to the Shinee members.
“Ahrasso hyung.” Jonghyun replied with a lazy smile.
“Pali! Let’s go.” Onew, the leader of the famous boyband group, ushered his members towards the changing room.

Manager Choi drove the Shinee boys back to their dorm. It was already after midnight when Shinee finally reached their dorm.
“Boys, I am happy to say that you have no schedule tomorrow.” Manager Choi said with a smile. “So, rest well and I’ll see you on the day after tomorrow.”
A series of ‘Ne hyung’ were heard. Soon, Manager Choi left and Shinee was left alone to rest.
“Aigoo! I’m hungry!” Key exclaimed as he ran towards the kitchen.
“I’m hungry too hyung!” Taemin whined as he followed Key. Together the two boys rummaged through the cupboards to find a few packets of ramen.
“Is ramen okay for you guys?” Key asked as he looked over towards Onew, Jonghyun and Minho who were comfortably seated in the living room sofa.
“Ramen’s fine.” Minho mumbled as his eyes were glued to the television.
Onew sighed before standing up and headed towards the main door. “I’m going out for a while to get some drinks. You guys want any?”
“Sure hyung! Get me some banana milk!” Taemin exclaimed.
“Hyung, get some sodas! We’ll be needing them after eating ramen!” Key added.
“Ahrasso. I’ll be back soon.” Onew said before grabbing a cap and a sweater for disguise purposes and headed out of the dorm.
It was another cool night in Seoul. Even though spring had arrived, the chilly wind of winter were still present during the night. Onew smiled as he entered a family minimart which he often frequent every now and then. He looked towards the counter to see a young girl tending to the cashier. Onew shook his head. ‘Girls tending the store late at night? Not a good idea.’ Onew thought before heading towards the drinks section of the store.
Onew pulled out two big bottles of soda from the fridge and grabbed a few banana milk as well before heading on towards the cashier. As he got closer to the cashier, he had a clearer look at the girl who was tending the store. She was fair and had her long hair tied up into a messy pony tail. Onew thought she looked pretty enough without any tinge of make-up on her face. Then he noticed her was reading a pile of notes behind the counter and quickly stood up when she noticed there was a customer who was about to pay for the items.
“Studying?” Onew asked casually.
“Ne. Exams around the corner.” The girl said with a shrug.
“Oh. High school?” Onew asked again.
“Ani. College.” The girl answered him, still not looking at him.
“I see.”
“Total will be seven thousand won.” The girl said as she looked up. Then she gasped. Onew knew she must have recognized him.
“Heh! I got a lot of that.” Onew grinned as he took out his wallet from his back pocket.
“Oh. Okay.” The girl shrugged and her expression surprised expression went back to normal.
Onew frowned, clearly unable to understand the girl in front of him. Usually when girls recognized him, they would squeal and hurriedly asked him for autographs or asked for a picture taken, but not her. Then he peeked at her name tag. ‘Kim Mira’, it said. “Here’s ten thousand won.” Onew said handing over the note to her.
“Gamsahamnida. Please wait for your change.” Mira said before handing over the change to Onew. Then she bowed. “Please come back soon.”
Onew raised an eyebrow before leaving the counter. He turned his head to look at Mira who was already seated and burying her head into the notes she was reading earlier. Feeling a bit dissatisfied, Onew walked back towards Mira and stood in front of the counter. Mira noticed this and looked up.
“Ne Onew-ssi? Is there anything you need help with?” Mira asked with a questioning look.
“Give me that!” Onew said before leaning over towards the counter and grabbed hold onto one of Mira’s notes and a pen. He quickly signed his autograph and put it down on the counter. Mira looked at him in shock and she was utterly speechless at his behavior.
“That’s my autograph for you. Brag it to your friends okay?” Onew said before finally heading out of the mart and walked on home.

Mira stared at her note which was utterly vandalized with Onew’s autograph. Mira sighed, shaking her head in disbelief before continuing with her studies.

It was six o’clock in the morning. As usual, Minho was the first one to get up ahead of the others. Since it was his day off, he decided to go for a jog. He debated with himself to wake or not to wake his members up. Finally, he decided to give them a break and headed for the run by himself.
He put on a beanie for facial disguise and set off for the run towards the park just opposite their dorm. It was still dark but Minho thought it was good, at least fans would not be able to recognize him in the dark.
After a few rounds of jog, Minho decided to take a rest at the bench near the playground. It was his favorite resting place as there were not many people jogging there. As he was sitting down and enjoying the morning fresh air, suddenly a girl with a short brown hair made a stop just on the opposite bench. Minho froze. He was afraid that it might be one of Shinee’s crazy fangirls who managed to stalk him during his jog.
Minho kept his head down as he continued to observe the girl in front of him. She did not seem to be bothered with his presence and just continued to do some light stretching on her own.
The girl had fair complexion and she looked good with her short hair. She was wearing a blue-colored jogging attire and it just made her look even perfect! Minho realized he was staring but he just could not help it.
“Excuse me.” Minho heard her calling out to him. He gulped before standing up.
“Ne?” Minho replied nervously.
“You look familiar. Are you an actor or something?” She asked while tilting her head.
“Ah? Ani. I’m not.” Minho answered with a blush.
“Ah sinchia?”
“I’m a singer actually.” Minho could not believe he just told her his occupation.
“Ah! That’s why you look familiar.” The girl nodded her head in understanding.
“Oh? You mean you don’t know which group I’m in?” Minho asked surprised.
“Other than Big Bang, I don’t really follow in any other boyband’s update.” The girl said apologetically. “Sorry.”
“Aniyo. I’m just surprised that’s all. This is the first time a girl ever told that to me.” Minho shrugged with a smile.
“So which boyband are you in?”
“Have you heard of SHINee?” Minho asked her.
“Ah! SHINee! Ne, my dongsaeng is a big fan of SHINee.” The girl told him and Minho beamed with pride. “Ah! That’s why your face is so familiar. My sister has lots of poster of SHINee in her room.”
“Then what about you? Any Big Bang posters in your room?” Minho teased.
The girl laughed. “Ani. I’m too busy with work that I have no time to get any posters to decorate my walls.”
“Ah sinchia? What do you work as?”
“I’m a website designer.” The girl told him.
“Ah, I see. It must be fun to design and create websites.”
“It sure is.” The girl nodded her head.
“I’m Minho by the way. Choi Minho.” Minho said with a shy smile.
“Oh, I’m Park Haneul.” The girl said before looking at her watch. “Ommo! I need to get home soon.”
“Really? But it’s still early.” Minho said.
“It’s early for you but late for me.” Haneul smiled before waving her hand towards Minho. “Bye Minho! See you around!”
“B-But…” Minho watched as Haneul jogged away from him. He felt lost suddenly. He wondered if he would ever meet her again, that Park Haneul.

Since it was a schedule-less day for Taemin, he had no choice but to attend school. Spending a whole day in school was not that bad. But he had to endure the chasing of fan girls around the school and it was kind of tiring for Taemin. Finally when school ended, Taemin let out a sigh of relief. He walked out of school to see Manager Choi’s van waiting for him.
Taemin entered the van happily and soon Manager Choi was driving him towards the dorm. Taemin enjoyed riding in the van as he kept on watching the busy life of the outside world. Just then, he remembered that he needed to get some books for school and told his manager to drop him off at a book store which was the nearest to his dorm. Manager Choi obliged and soon Taemin found himself standing in front of a new book store. Manager Choi told him that it was a newly opened store and so there will not be that many people in there. Taemin smiled as he knew he would be safe from fangirls.
Entering the store, Taemin noticed that it was actually a book-café store where people were allowed to read or buy books while enjoying a quiet and relaxed time at the café in the store itself. Taemin smiled when he smelled the sweet taste of banana milk. ‘I will definitely come back to this place again!’ Taemin told himself before heading on towards the shelves to find the required book for class.
When he had finally found the book, he decided to linger around the café for a while before heading back towards the dorm. He chose a seat which was a bit further away from the exit. Then he got up to the counter to pay for his book purchase before ordering a cup of home-made banana milk.
The girl at the counter smiled at him. Taemin returned the smile with a nod. He thought she looked cute in a certain way with her curly hair and the dimple on her left cheek. She punched in the amount in the cash register and showed Taemin the price on the screen. Taemin nodded in understanding and handed her the cash. She returned the change and continued to smile at him. Then she seemed to remember something and pulled out a magazine from underneath the counter. Taemin peeked at the cover of the magazine which featured Shinee. The girl pointed to his picture on the magazine and pointed it to him. Taemin nodded, telling her that it was indeed him in the picture. The girl smiled wider and nodded her head before holding out a thumbs up towards Taemin.
Taemin laughed and nodded his head as well. Then the girl gave him a pen and pointed towards the magazine.
“You want my autograph?” Taemin asked. The girl just nodded her head again. Taemin signed willingly and handed the magazine back to her.
She gave Taemin another nod before disappearing behind towards the back room of the store. Taemin stood on his tiptoe to see if the girl was going to come out anytime soon, but she was gone from sight.
Taemin sighed as he quickly gathered his things and decided to head home, sipping his banana milk at the same time.

It was another Friday evening and Shinee was invited to perform for a charity event down at an orphanage. Songs like ‘Hello’ and ‘Ring Ding Dong’ were chosen to be sung by Shinee as the majority of the kids at the orphanage were more familiar with those songs.
Shinee had a great time entertaining the kids and the kids had a good time interacting with the idols.
Key was busy playing some card games with a few children in the playing room when he suddenly needed to go to the toilet. He excused himself and headed towards the back where the toilet was. On his way to the toilet, he had to pass by a staircase where he saw a girl carrying an infant of about the age of two. She was trying to stop the baby from crying and it looked like she was having a hard time.
Key smiled at her while passing on by but the girl ignored him and continued to calm the crying baby down. Key shrugged and quietly used the toilet.
A few minutes later, Key headed out and walked passed the staircase again. He saw the same girl again and this time he decided to stop and asked her if she needed any help.
“He’s been crying for a while now.” The girl told him with a tired expression. “He’s new here so I guess he’s a bit unfamiliar with the environment.”
“Ah ne. Is it okay if I hold him?” Key asked as he held out his hands.
“Ne. Do you think you can calm him down?” The girl asked Key before handing the baby over to him.
“Let me try okay?” Key said as he bounced the baby gently in his embrace while making cute sounds with his lips. The baby stared at him in wonder before placing his thumb inside his mouth. He was at last quiet. The girl stared at Key in wonder before grinning wide. Her tired face was gone and it was soon replaced with a thankful expression.
“Thank you so much Key-ssi.” The girl bowed. “You are indeed the omma in Shinee.”
Key smiled wide as he continued to hold the baby. “What’s his name?” Key asked.
“You’re not going to believe it.” The girl answered with a grin.
“Try me.”
“His name is Kim Kibum.” The girl said, the grin still plastered on her lips.
“Ah, sinchia?” Key asked in astonishment. “Hey! It’s a mini me!”
The girl laughed. “Anyway, thank you again for helping me. I think I’d better take him in now.”
“Ah ne.” Key handed the baby back to her reluctantly. “Um, what’s your name by the way?”
“Ah, I’m Seo Hani.” The girl replied with a smile.
“Hani.” Key repeated her name with a nod. “So what are you doing here exactly?”
“I’m a volunteer here. Usually I will come here on Friday evenings, Saturday and Sunday.” Hani said.
“Other days?”
“I’m schooling on other days.” Hani shrugged.
“I see.” Key nodded his head in understanding. Then he glanced at baby Kibum in Hani’s arms. “He’s asleep.”
"It’s his sleep time anyway.”
“What happened to him?” Key asked.
“Oh, his parents met with an accident last week. The mother passed away whereas his father is in a critical condition at the hospital.” Hani told him. “He has no other relatives in Seoul, so he is sent to our care.”
Key nodded his head in understanding. “That’s so sad.”
“Yes it is.” Hani nodded her head in agreement. “That’s why I want to make myself useful and care for him.”
“You have a good heart.” Key told her with a smile.
“You do too. I watched you in Hello Baby before. I think you’ll make an awesome dad!” Hani grinned.
“Thanks for the compliment.” Key smiled.
“I guess I better put him in bed now.” Hani said. “Thank you again Key-ssi. Nice talking to you.”
With that Hani turned around and headed up the stairs. Key watched her with a sad expression. He wondered if he would see her again anytime soon.

Jonghyun entered Shinee’s practice room with a smile. He saw most of his members there and hurried over to them. They were practicing their own parts of the songs that they were going to sing later during the Inkigayo performance.
“Hyung, do you know that we have a new make-up artist?” Taemin said in excitement the moment he saw Jonghyun.
“Ah sinchia? Where is she?” Jonghyun asked as he looked around the waiting room for an unfamiliar face.
“She just headed out with Dee noona to get our clothes for the performance.” Taemin said.
“Well, is she cute?” Jonghyun asked as he wiggled his eyebrows.
“Hyung! You’re such a pervert!” Minho exclaimed as he threw a pillow straight into Jonghyun’s face, smirking.
“Yah! I’m just asking!” Jonghyun threw back the pillow towards Minho.
“From what I heard, she’s just an intern in SME. So she won’t be working with us that long.” Onew informed him. Jonghyun nodded in understanding.
Just then, the door to Shinee’s waiting room opened to show their usual make-up artist, Dee and another petite young girl entering. They were holding a few clothes which belonged to Shinee. Jonghyun immediately stood up and greeted the them.
“Annyohaesaeyo! I’m Shinee’s Jonghyun!” Jonghyun said with a smile.
“Aigoo! I know that already.” Dee said, ignoring him.
“Noona, I’m introducing to your cute friend there.” Jonghyun pointed out to the girl beside Dee. “Not to you.”
“As if I don’t know.” Dee rolled her eyes. “You are always alert when cute girls are around.”
“Noona, mind for introductions?” Jonghyun smirked.
“Oh! Right! Jonghyun, this is Lee Nayoung.” Dee said as she pulled the girl to her side. “And Nayoung, I’m sure you’re familiar with Shinee’s Jonghyun.”
“Ah ne. Annyohaesaeyo, I’m Lee Nayoung.” Nayoung gave a bow towards Jonghyun who was still grinning.
“Okay then, let’s get the five of you made up.” Dee said as she pulled onto Jonghyun’s hand to force him to sit on the chair.
“Noona, let Nayoung do my make-up today.” Jonghyun whined.
“She’s not doing any make-up today actually. She’ll be learning today.” Nayoung told him.
“Ah, sinchia? What a waste.” Jonghyun feigned a hurt expression causing his members to laugh.

Once Shinee’s performance were over, Jonghyun left his members to linger around the backstage before quickly entering the waiting room. He was having a terrible headache suddenly and he just wanted to lie down to rest for a moment.
When he entered the waiting room, he saw Nayoung inside packing all the make-up which had been used earlier during the performance. She turned around to see a pale-faced looking Jonghyun. She frowned.
“Jonghyun-ssi? Are you okay?” She asked.
“Ani. I’m having a headache right now.” Jonghyun told her with a smile.
“Oh!” Nayoung nodded her head in understanding.
“I’ll just be lying down here for a while.” Jonghyun headed towards the couch and lied down.
“Ne.” Nayoung replied.
The waiting room was suddenly quiet. Then suddenly Jonghyun felt his arm being poked by someone. He quickly opened his eyes. He noticed Nayoung looking at him. He quickly sat up.
“Did I sleep long?” Jonghyun asked.
“Ani. I just want to let you have this.” Nayoung held out some pills and a bottle of water towards him.
“What’s this?”
“Painkillers. At least it’ll ease away your headache.” Nayoung shrugged.
“Oh. Gamsahamnida.” Jonghyun smiled before taking the pills and water from her.
“It’s nothing.” Nayoung shrugged. Then she headed towards one a cupboard at the corner and pulled out her bag. “I’ll be leaving now.”
Jonghyun looked up at Nayoung once he had swallowed the pills. “Ne? You leaving already?”
“Ne. Dee unnie said I could go after clearing up.” Nayoung said while pointing to the neatly kept make-up boxes in front of the vanity mirror.
“Oh. When do you think you’ll be back again?” Jonghyun asked.
“Hm, I am not sure. But I’ll be around SME for a while.” Nayoung smiled.
“I see.” Jonghyun returned the smile. He thought she looked beautiful when she smiled.
“Ne, I’ll be off now.” Nayoung gave another bow. “Take care Jonghyun-ssi.”
“Ne, you too.” Jonghyun replied as he watched Nayoung exiting the room.
Suddenly Jonghyun felt empty.
