Episode 10: ShimmeritasheeMay 30 2010, 18:43:37 UTC
Some info from the official companion:
-“‘Shimmer” is an interesting episode, because we sort of cut around the invisible girl in a weird way, and the Lana and Clark story became the focus of the epsiode,” Mile Millar notes. “I think we have two of the best scenes of the fisrts season in that epsiode - the near-kiss and the scene at sunset. It really turned out much better than we thought it was going to - we really downplayed the crime story, and played up the romance and the drama between Clark and Lana.”
-“Cadmus Labs is one of the mainstays of the DC Comics universe. During the period of Superman’s death after his battle with Doomsday, they created the current Superboy when trying to clone Superman’s tissue.”
-About the scene between Clark and Lana (The barn): “There’s an emotional power to that scene,” Mark Verheiden agrees. “Clark wants to go for it, and then Whitney comes and tells him this terrible thing about his father, so he has to not go for it. It’s really aching and poignant scene.” With such a dramatic scene, “it allowed us to pare down the crime story and beef up the story between Clark and Lana,” Horton continues. “Then we created an end where Clark went up and looked through the telescope, and Lana was with Whitney, and he was by himself. In many ways, that defined their relationship, and how intensely passionate it was, and how effective you could still be in this day and age with unrequited love. You just ached for those two people.”
(me: I ached for Clark...)
-Verheiden was equally taken with the scen where Lex explains the history of his watch. “I still remember walking into the editor’s room, and Michael Green and I saw a cut of that,” he says. “We were both giggling and elbowing each other because it was auch a nice story, told soi well by Michael Rosenbaum. You saw so many levels of his feelings for his mother and father, and his loss.”

(me: I ached for Clark...) Yeah, even if I'm liking Lana more this season, I still didn't feel for her in this situation. I felt more for Clark and Whitney.
I find it odd that they were giggling about the watch story, lol.
