Yeah! I also found it interesting. I think one of the reasons why I like the Companion books so much (although they are not perfect and could be improved) is that I have an official source of information and I can learn more about Smallville…
I have 6 Companions (except for season 3 - I just couldn’t find it anywhere). I bought them this year because I was planning to do the series rewatch and I wanted to have some background information (it’s always interesting to find out sth new about this show).
It’s a great pity that there are no plans to publish season 8, 9 and 10 companions… It would be really nice to get some answers about season 8 - especially the Lana ARC, and why the producers thought it was a great idea to end the relationship between Clark and Lana in such a tragic way. When I learnt that Lana was returning for 5 episodes, I thought it was a perfect opportunity for Clana closure. You know, for example Clark saying to Lana something similar to what Lois said to Oliver in Crossfire “I love you, as a dear friend” - but nooooo…The producers had decided to bring more Clana drama to Smallville - it was just so disappointing and painful to watch… After Super-Powered-Krypto-Infected Lana left - I lost faith in TPTB… I wasn’t sure if they were able to do justice to Clois romance.... But thank God for season 9! :)
To be honest, I’d like to see Lana coming back for one episode in season 10. I’d be fine with her return (for an episode) if TPTB showed her without her super-suit and being happy with her life…I really didn’t like what the writers and producers did with her story in season 8 - it was tragic and (in my opinion) unnecessary.
