//OH! The "Hello citizens" was such an Anvil, I can't believe I missed it, lol. Cute.// Yeah, I’ve also missed it, and I quoted it- lol!
// It makes the scene in Rabid when Clark takes out Lana's picture and has that reminiscent smile on his face that much more poignant. Because I finally see what memories he's probably called up while looking at that picture and I can smile along with him.//
Totally agree with you. You know, I think one of the major reasons why I enjoy Clark and Lana scenes in season 1 is that I see them as innocent 14-year-old teenagers, who can make mistakes because of their lack of experience…When I was 14, I was such a BIG kid ;) trying to deal with this whole process of growing up, which had its ups and downs. So, yeah, Clana in season 1 - is cute :)
//Clark asking about Whitney...well, on the one hand we can say that he's trying to be considerate and gauging how Lana views Whitney so he will know if it's appropriate to make his move. On the other hand, my friends supercaptain182 and Roxymissrose here on LJ is are big Clark/Whitney fans, lol.//
LOL! It really looks like I’m shipping Clark/Whitney “Clarney”??? “Whitlark”??? ;))) hehehe…
You know, it seems to me that there’s just a very strong rivalry between Clark and Whitney - and it’s not only about Lana. I can sense that it goes deeper than that - especially from Clark’s side. Clark seems to be jealous of Whitney’s success as a football player and his growing popularity - he’s treated as a high school hero (even Jonathan is impressed by Whitney’s sport accomplishments, which totally annoys Clark). Clark has all these wonderful abilities, which he uses to save people - but nobody is aware of his heroic actions (except for the Kents).
Clark’s rivalry with other alpha males is a running theme throughout Smallville. In season 6 (for example) Clark was jealous of Oliver aka Green Arrow (remember Crimson and Clarks’ behaviour under the influence of red kryptonite? - he was trying soooo hard to impress Lois when she mentioned Oliver). Also, in season 5 he was jealous of Aquaman…
