we're both sniffling now and running on virtually no sleep. but the sky is pretty and the pictures will come out well. the guard says that i can't take pictures on the metro without a permit from government center. i take as many pictures as i please. i'm not al-qaeda. i'm a fucking american citizen, born and raised.
the city is decrepit and old. falling apart at its seams, but this tense disastrous beauty is something i've missed. youngstown had the look of a dead city and miami is the first place i've been thats old enough to have the chance to die. orlando is still an infant and is being fed well. it's these cities that interest me. the ones that everyone has left. the ones that nobody stays in. the buildings are older than all of the people and they stand proud like they know it. the shutter on my camera crunches a thousand quick snaps and then we're on the metrorail again. rolling away from downtown. a hobo gets off at a station. he turns to someone on the train just before he leaves and says: "personal belongings, that's an interesting word."

university is travesty
sans majesty, beauty and woe
