wow. just wow. (spoilers below. be warned)
i have never seen an ep of lost as exciting and powerful as tonight's. it wasn't just good. it kept me on the edge of my seat. it was so action packed, but not crazy violent action.
desmond is definitely one of my top favorite characters. i mean, he's got a kickass accent and looks like Jesus, just for starters. n his ability to see into the future last season was always really entertaining. but now i'm certain: desmond-centric episodes are THE best. add faraday's spacey personality to the mix and it's just butter. pure n simple.
you could totally parallel desmond and faraday with marty mcfly and doc brown. i'm sure people will be making comparisons. time travel sci-fi has always been interesting to me... when you change the past n you see the effects on the future. n this episode gave a HUGE revelation as to why things are the way they are on the island. it's a big answer. it confirms that the island has some strange effects on time. so the craziest anomalies... like things happening to time and space, are definite possibilities. i mean, if that's the case, why not see visions of dead people on the island, or have people from another part of the world appear outta nowhere (ie, locke's father.) the island itself could be a portal, or detached from the normal flow of time in the rest of the world. lost is more similar to long love letter (a japanese dorama) than i thought. as far i'm concerned, my curiosity as to how strange things can happen on the island is satisfied. the only bigger surprise would be... if somehow, humans were responsible for the crazy time effects.
so back to the episode. what really made it moving... emotional to me, was the race to get a hold of penny. n just seeing desmond plead with her to believe him... the look in his eye... i totally felt for him. i related so much to him. that was just... a great moment in television history. right up there with the moment claire saved her family from her burning house on heroes, and her dad sacrificed his memory to save her. powerful stuff... powerful stuff...
okay. i'm done praising lost. hhahha! it'll be hard to top that episode, in my book.
