Baby on Board!
This weekend I hosted my very first baby shower for my roomie Stinatina! My Mom & Dave co-hosted the event along with me. I have to say for the first one I have thrown it was not too shabby! Dave & I had lots of fun getting ready for it of course, going all out and making sure we had a boy theme to the party. During the party we made bibs for Christina. We had paints and what not for people to design and make a bib for her. We also played lots of games like, guess the baby food (one of which was country breakfast & another Turkey Tetrazzini!), guess the baby object, guess mommy's tummy size & my favorite, the dirty diaper game. During the diaper game you melt candy bars in diapers and you have to guess what kind of candy it is. I played that one just for funsies and proudly got them all right! Whew-who! I was after all the only one brave enough to give them all a taste test!
After that Dave and I unveiled our lovely penis shaped cake. Yes, yes, I know this was a baby shower NOT a bachelorette party, but we have had that cake pan sitting around forever! We got in months ago for an erotic cake party we were going to have and never got to. So we decided that Christina's baby shower was the perfect time to whip it out. Dave suggested we use strawberry cake for a more life like color. It was a little too life like though because when it came out of the oven the strawberry bits made it looked like it had sores all over it (it reminded me WAY too much of Dmitri's "penis" art he had hanging around his freshman dorm room at UNCA). We quickly covered the scary cake with blue icing and Dave wrote "It's a boy!" on the balls. It was quite lovely! Christina was surprised but amused! Mission accomplished! She also got lots of nice gifts and I think she had a really good time.
I still can't believe my best friend is having a baby. It seems like only yesterday we were kids playing around at her dads house talking about what we thought we would be like when we were all grown up. Now here we are... all grown up and one of us about to become a parent. I am excited about becoming an aunt and can't wait till the baby comes at the end of July.
