Fandom: ---Hogan's Heroes/The Bunker---
Characters: Hogan, Newkirk, and Carter
Story: "One Small Favour" (Part 1/?)
Rating: K+
Warnings/Spoilers: none
Theme music: "Hot Fuzz Suite" by David Arnold from "Hot Fuzz"
Author's Note: Another attempt at broadening the "Hogan's Heroes" story idea I had where Hogan and his men were going to try and help Matthias get Baumann the medical attention he needs without alerting the Gestapo to his whereabouts.
Summary: Hogan devices a plan that will benefit both Matthias as well as their mission at getting plans to the Underground agents.

“Remind me again why we’re bothering to help these Nazis?” Newkirk inquired as he looked up from his bunk. “After all, them defecting isn’t going to help our side win the war.”

“If we don’t help them now we could be out of business,” Hogan replied. “We know that they survived a self-initiated massacre in a bunker and because of a lone survivor, they are branded as traitors. They’ve seen our tunnels and know we operate near Hammelburg.”

Newkirk sighed as he rolled onto his. “I forgot that part.”

From his bunk Carter added, “Yeah there’s no telling what those Nazis would do to save their own skin.”

“So you mean we have to keep him on our side?”

Hogan nodded his head solemnly. “For the moment, yes. But this may be the chance we’ve needed at getting those plans through to the underground.”

The men were appalled at Hogan’s suggestion and immediately LeBeau spoke up, “Surely Colonel, you don’t expect to have him hand the plans over himself?”

“No,” replied Hogan slowly. He let his gaze rest on Carter and smirked at the innocent face that gazed back at him. “But I know the man who can accompany him.”

“Me?” Carter’s shoulders sagged. “Gee Colonel, Klink might not notice the Kraut but he’ll certainly notice me missing.”

“Let me worry about Klink; you just worry about trying to be fatherly to our young friend.”

Rolling to his side, disbelief in his voice, Newkirk asked, “Couldn’t you make them distant cousins? No one would ever believe that Carter could be a good father.”

“I didn’t say ‘a father’ I said ‘fatherly’.” Hogan sighed before fixing his gaze upon Carter once more. “You’ll be accompanying our fine soldier, as his uncle.”

Dismayed by his rotten fortune, Carter replied sullenly, “Great, can’t wait to see what uniform I get to wear.”

“And what uniform shall that be?” LeBeau inquired as he stepped forward. “Shall it be Luftwaffe? High-ranking officers from the Eastern Front?”

“Nope, better.” ~
