Nuit Blanche
Holy crap, what just happened? One second I am on the GO Train into Toronto at 10:30pm, then the next thing I know I am in a world of fantastic weirdness and loud parties at the festival "Nuit Blanche", and then it's 7am and I am on the GO Train again.
Robot Fights, Street Raves, Furries, Inspector Gadget, Free stylin Rappers, pimped out wheelchairs races, hippies doing rock balancing sculptures, Techno parties being blasted in the national archive building, giant forts, movies being projected on the sides of buildings, having a beer on the top of a building, police beating the crap out of idiots, art installations in the middle of the street, all night galleries, bars open till 5am. Man the streets were packed all night long. This might just have been one of the most exciting and memorable nights of my life.
Went with a group of friends. I bought an extra Go Train Ticket for a friend that I was expecting but he didn't come, oh well, his loss. It was a big group at first but then me a couple of friends decided to go off on our own. Thousands of people were just roaming the streets having a good time. It was so great to dance to blasting Techno and Jungle music at 6am in the busy streets. I am trying to post several videos behind a cut, but that isn't working too well. I'll try again tomorrow. Here's one video from The National Film Board of Canada archive centre. They were syncing up their classic films to the music that was being played.
It's actually Norman Mclaren, not Marshall Mcluhan, I get those two mixed up...
