Am I the only one who finds it odd that we're seeing proxy all-calls from ST staff? Invitations for those so out of the loop that they need to hear about the situation on [General-OOC] to come throw down in a battle royale?
A situation that went from a handful of private invitations to a location where some folks were held was turned into a mass proxy by OOC messages inviting everyone to come participate?
Further, to put those people forcibly involved, and those who responded to the private, IC requests in a freeze for a week before anyone even looks at the scene? I mean, according the the cam guidelines, the STs are on their last hours to provide an update to the players they've frozen when they will finally stop accepting additional proxies? How much longer to run that? To run it well, it'll take another week just to crunch the numbers (with much love for Mitch, without whom I wouldn't know that), not to mention appeals, arguments, and whatever else transpires?
As a brief update, this isn't my first time out on the dancefloor. I proxy a lot. That said, in the last 2 years, I've had countless proxies I've sent or attempted to send. I've sent proxies that I've been asked to send by STs, and proxies to interact with ongoing plotsutt.
One ST (you may be reading this, so hello, Miss ANST Requiem) and one of her assistants (further Mitch-love here) have been the only ones to reply. No one else. I've spent almost 2 months this year (broken up over 3 attempts to proxy) waiting for members of the MST staff, having never received an update of any kind (these weren't out of the blue proxies, they were discussed with the STs, and the proxies were acknowledged before being sent). I had an NST ask me for an e-mail, then upon receiving it completely ignore it, despite a month and 3 (weekly) pings as reminders.
Last year the proxies I heard back on were detailed accounts of how the locals were awesome, and I am lucky to have had a moment to bask in their awesom-osity.
The horror stories are numerous (ambushed inside a plane with closed doors by local police while using Guardian Vigil - "They got surprise on you. They're in there with guns on you before you can do anything." (editors note - this is simply not possible according to the rules)), and I will spare further ranting.
So, am I the only one who's found proxies are no longer a reasonable method of play in this chronicle? I may be ultra-sensitive to this issue since I spent a fair amount of time sick and only really able to interact via proxy, only to become VST and be in the same position again for different reasons.
Dunno. At this point, I think I may be looking to pack it in. I love you all dearly, but our shared hobby just doesn't seem fun anymore.
Thoughts?
