Bama's Americorps*NCCC Newsletter Week 2-3
Hello once again! Its time for an update on my life in the beautiful Denver Metro Area. Where its always sunny. :)
Exciting news: We have our permanent teams within our unit and I know where i'll be for the first round of projects!!!! I am on the Water Unit Team 3. My Team leader is Diana. She's a super cool chick from Ohio. I'm on a team with 7 other people who have various backgrounds which i'll be learning about throughout the 10 months together. I know where i'll be for the first round. DENVER! Yep that's right i'll be stationed right here in beautiful Denver. I'm going to be working in a middle school in the city mentoring and tutoring kids. I'm super excited to work with the kids and find out what they're like. The name of the School is Horace Mann Middle School and we'll be in the classrooms and with them afterschool as well. We will also try to get the families and the community to join with us to help the kids and the community grow. We'll be this for about 8 weeks.
So i went to an awesome church last weekend called The Church of South Denver. I had a great time and i'm gonna try to attend there regularly. The teaching is incredible. The message last week hit me because it was about worship. The main message about worship is that its not about you but God. It meant that it doesn't matter what you think of the worship it matters what God thinks. That really hit home. It made me think of all the times i've critizied a church because of the worship service but i need to think what matters is what God Thinks not what I think. God loves when he hears us call out his name through song and worship. So a challenge to you: Don't critizice a church for the worship. Don't think of how worship affects you because it doesn't.
I guess that's all for now i'll report back with new news whenever i get some.
