Yo Ho Ho
Okay, so I can't even pretend for a second that I'm not an internet pirate. I've downloaded stuff, my friends and I have send each other many movies/albums/ect. using sites just like Meagupload.
And while I know that Megaupload being shut down is the result of an FBI investigation that was long, it still feels slightly shady that it got taken down without any warning the day after a massive internet protest.
And I feel bad for all the people who've lost files that can't be replaced. I lost fanmixes but I know people who've lost their student films, the music they wrote and recorded and many other things that may now be gone forever because no one got any warning.
So, goodbye Megaupload. I was fun while it lasted.
But, Government, don't think for a second that won't come back on you. Don't think for a second that this will be anything more than a speed bump in the effort to keep the internet what it's supposed to be.
Free.
