Awhile back, in a moment of sheer stupidity, I linked my Twitter to my Facebook. At the time, I was all “This is totally going to be awesome! Way to save on time!” This is when I was new to this whole Facebook thing.
(For the record, I had to be dragged into Facebook. I was one of the last people in my social group to get one and the only reason I signed up was the fact the my BFF guilted me into it)
But then I discovered the drawback to Facebook, people could and did actually find me. People from High School were sending me friends requests, long standing family friends were leaving posts on my wall. And then, even worse, family members were contacting me. None of those people were the ones I wanted to see my twitterness. Twitter was were I could be a sarcastic fandom geek in 140 characters. Or a place to express my inner bitchy wonder at the world around me. Or just a place to be totally random. It was (to me) another fan girl outlet and a place I could follow certain celebrities and not feel like a total creeper. I didn’t want certain people into that part of my life.
So, I quickly hit the “Disallow” button on the Twitter Facebook application and considered it done with.
But then one day, I realized that the “Disallow” button wasn’t doing it’s job. My Twitter and FB were still linked. I tried everything I could think of. I pounded the disallow button until it screamed for mercy. I logged in and out of both sites trying to un-sync them. Nothing was working.
Until today, when instead of using the side bar menu to go to the Twitter app I clicked on the little icon below a post and ended up on the Twitter FB page instead of the application home. And right there was a “Block Application” button.
Needless to say, I wasted no time in punching it. The only downside is it blocks other peoples twitters to FB. I consider this a small price to pay for the fact that no longer will my Minister cousin be seeing my tweets on how I want into Eric Northman’s pants.
Lesson learned: M sucks at internet.
