True Story: Many years ago, for a special "treat" my American History teacher decided to show us Saving Private Ryan in class. There was much rejoicing, because it was a few days before Christmas and no one wanted to work. 5 minutes in I was staring at the floor of the classroom in absolute horror as people died horribly on screen.
That night I had nightmares about getting blown up. To this day I've never seen the whole movie despite the fact it's been on TNT or USA several times in a nice edited form.
So needless to say, a few years later, despite my being a huge history geek and a lover of miniseries, when HBO started Band of Brothers I made no effort to see it afraid it would be a 10 hour version of Saving Private Ryan and if I watched it I would start having dreams of getting blown up or shot in the head again. (I swear, this story's going some where)
Another True Story: Despite the fact that their pictures are EVERYWHERE I couldn't tell you which Jonas Brother was which. I knew their names and my favorite crack pairing is Kevin Jonas/Mike Carden and that they all wore purity rings (something I'm not entirely buying, sorry for the skepticism, but if I were in their position with that kind of money, fame and access to pretty much anything I want there is no way I wouldn't be hitting someone) but as for anything more substantial I was S.O.L (Really, I swear, there is a point to this)
What do these two True Stories have to do with one another? Normally, nothing. Just two different pieces of popular Pop Culture that I managed to ignore.
Then I stumbled onto
Easy Academy. Which is an EPIC Band of Brothers/Jonas Brothers/Disney RPF crossover.
It's also one of the most AMAZING things I've read in a long long time. I started it not knowing who these people were and still got so sucked in I was up reading until 3am when I reminded myself that I was a responsible adult and needed to sleep.
This 'verse has eaten my brain. I found myself trolling through Verizon On Demand and marathoning all the episodes of JONAS and watching the 3D concert. And by a stroke of luck HBO has been reshowing Band of Brothers in preparation for The Pacific and I've watched all they have of that on On Demand as well (still waiting for the last two hours to go up) and have been so pulled into this miniseries I can't believe I put this off or almost 10 years.
So, the point to all of this is: Go read
Easy Academy!! Just give it a chance, you will not regret it and if you do feel free to blame me.
EASY ACADEMY!!!
