Daehyun is out of useable POKEMON!
Daehyun blacked out!
Daehyun forces himself to gently set the Nintendo DS down on the table, instead of throwing it out the window-he borrowed it from Junhong, and he's pretty sure the kid will murder him in his sleep if there's so much as a nick on the device.
“You're getting better, hyung,” Jongup insists. This is not true. Daehyun is not getting better. Daehyun has lost eight battles in a row. Daehyun is annoyed.
“I don't get it!” he says, frustrated. “Onyx is a higher evolution than Staryu, right? So he should beat him even they're the same level! Plus he's bigger, anyway, and made of rock!” Jongup looks like he's trying not to laugh, which only makes Daehyun more annoyed. “How can a little starfish beat a giant rock-snake-thing?”
“Staryu beat Onyx because Staryu is a water type,” Jongup explains gently.
“So?”
“Water beats rock, hyung.”
“How does that make sense?” Daehyun seethes. “Rock is stronger than water. And bubbles? Seriously? That's stupid.”
Ever placid, Jongup says, “But water erodes rock.”
Daehyun narrows his eyes. “You're making that up. That doesn't have anything to do with Pokemon. That's bullshit.”
“That's science,” Jongup replies serenely.
Daehyun tries to remind himself that he did this to be closer to Jongup, so that he can be a part of one of his boyfriend's interests, but right now all he can think about is what a massive headache his boyfriend is giving him.
Jongup picks up the abandoned DS and hands it back to Daehyun. “C'mon, hyung, let's keep playing. I'll be Jigglypuff this time.”
After six more defeats at Jongup's hands, Daehyun decides he'd rather risk the maknae's wrath than continue playing this nonsensical game and throws the DS at the wall. It's not the window, but it's just as satisfying, and the look of pure horror on Jongup's face makes him feel a little better about losing to a Rattata.
