The girl is only that of his childhood remains. That is not to say that she isn’t special-regardless of her confession that surprisingly hurt him more than he imagined, she will never leave the place in his heart she once had. Kagura had been a rescuer, the savior of his loneliness. The aftertaste of thanks had turned into something bitter and cold.
She wounds him the most when she lies. The blatant falsehood she speaks is clear like a crystal’s edge. I hate you. I don’t want to see you anymore. Go away, Kyo. But she doesn’t want him to; she can never detest him. He knows this fact and instead of drowning in self-pride, wishes to reach out and grab her hand as if he were still a child. Do you have to go?
No, she’d then tell him, I can stay longer, if you want me to.

A clumsy kid who sacrifices herself for others while not taking her needs into consideration-that alone defines Honda Tohru. Many times, he wishes to shake her shoulders until a little selfishness is placed in her logic. Being next to her makes him feel self-centered and too useless.
But when she invites him to her banquet with open arms, tears come; the emotions of thanks and relief. A lump in his throat dissolves into nothing and the ashes of his past he kept stored are blown away. There is nothing but a clean white surface, which he may write upon again.
In his dreams, he’s no longer young anymore. He has grown just a bit, a few inches taller with a mind of fuller understanding, new comprehensions. He’s not afraid that there isn’t anyone to show him the way, because she gives him the chance to start the world anew.
