Machi, he writes, and then stops. Too casual.
Kuragi-san, he goes on, before he catches himself. Too formal.
The papers are crumpled in Yuki’s hands as his eyebrows narrow. How come? It’s only a simple note. He sighs in disappointment; he can’t seem to express anything anywhere these days, and it frustrates him. Just when he thought he’d found the people he could be open with, a girl comes along to quiet him again-his mouth closed, his lips not parting in fear of the silly things he might say.
So for a good ten minutes, the lost boy sits in his chair, a pen in his lonely hand. Small thoughts hit him: perhaps he could go out for an hour or two. After all, the other council members don’t leave him reminders of where they go. Yuki knows this is unlike him, but steps up in what little defiance he holds against them.
Is it a coincidence? As soon as he turns his back on the room, he sees her standing there, head up but eyes cast down.
“Ah-I’ll be gone for some time,” he says as he passes her by, “See you later.”
She doesn’t question him, nor does she find her names written hesitantly, carefully, on the creased papers on his desk.
