After fifteen years of teaching high school, I switched to middle school this year. They're so heeeelarious. They whoop and yell "hurrah" over the tiniest little things. I was really scared of them when I taught high school. Now I don't think I'd ever be able to teach high school again. They're too jaded and serious. My school gave all the students a free cookie and a bottled water one day, and those kids couldn't have looked for thrilled if they'd been told they were each getting a bag of gold. They acted like that free cookie was a bag of gold.
