Wasn't Strega one of the people for whom (at least sometimes) half the show (i.e. anything that didn't support the interpretation she was already taking) flew right over her head? Or was that just the Buffy reviewers?
Noting for the record that I missed the entendre too. I remember the line, but I think I always took it as Lindsey being a smartass about his loyalty to the firm, like if him going down was what kept W&H trundling along, then oh well.
Possibly what helps is the benefit of hindsight and knowing now that yes, they did love to zing those lines right past the censors. Kind of how it takes a while to build up the trust that it's a plot point and not a continuity error.
No, that was Strega. Either she'd accuse the show of not doing things that it did, or she'd come into an ep with her own ideas of what the episode was trying to do and would cut it down if it didn't match her interpretation, regardless of whether the ep was actually doing a fabulous job of meeting its own goals.
Preach it, sister. Strega seemed to hate Wesley and the show so much I stopped reading *all* recaps of all shows on TWoP for quite a while. Not that I was in any way extreme or anything.... ;p
And, thebratqueen? That exchange totally flew over my head the first few times, too.
