Summer is almost over, and that means school is about to start. The rays of uncoolness coming from that fact are so powerful they could confirm a supreme court judge in a day.

You see, it's not being in Fayetteville that I dislike. It's the fact that, while I'm there, I have to do work - work that, for the most part, is rather useless to me. Granted, there will be a few more exceptions this semester than last, but I still dislike reading about world history, which is what I've done since I got up to Fayetteville last August and will continue to do this semester. I also dislike having to make the stupid 4-hour and 30-minute drive up there. It's so incredibly borng and I usually come close to falling asleep at the wheel and having a nasty wreck.

I think I'm pretty excited about rush. I'm not even sure what date it begins, but I know it's a good bit into the school year. Until then, though, I'll just keep on with other things - and believe me, I've got plenty of those as well.

For the Traveler alone, I have to do a preview story on Auburn, a feature on Marcus Monk, a preview on the Hog secondary, a preview on the Hog wide receivers, a preview on the Hog linebackers, a preview on the volleyball season and write my column. Eek. The Auburn and volleyball stories should be done within the next day or two. I'm still in a hole, though, because I can't really do anything related to the other stories until I get to Fayetteville and talk to some players and coaches. Problem is that I don't get to Fayetteville until midday Saturday.

I work some mega hours this week at The Sun, capped off by my trip to Corning on Friday - my last day - to get a prelim story on them for our high school football tab, in addition to a separate story that I just have to find on my own. I then have to get back to the office, work the desk, and write my two stories before I leave for the night. Something tells me I won't be a happy camper that day.

It'll all be okay, though, because I get to see a lot of my friends in Fayetteville on Saturday.

Amidst all of this chaos, I have to pack up the rest of my crap and put it in my car. Granted, the majority of the junk is already in my room at the Pike House, but at any rate, I have moving.

Almost all of my friends will be gone by Wednesday, so I'll be here lonely in Jonesboro. If any of you would like to, oh-so-kindly, entertain me, I would be more than obliged. Just let me know.

I think I'm going to go sleep for an hour before work. Long night ahead: 3-11 p.m. Not really sure why they gave me the extra hour. I hope there's not some boring-ass city council or school board meeting that needs to be covered...
