Siiiiiiiick. And it's the day before classes begin. That only makes sense, right?
I've got a pretty good schedule, if I can get together what I need to pay for it. Loans are difficult to navigate, but I think I've got this under control.
I've been playing Fable 3. It makes me pretty happy. Kiddo Roommate has started playing Fable 1, so I've been getting a pretty good comparison.
I never realized how over-complicated a game Fable 1 really was. There's a menu for everything. They simplified things for Fable 2, and simplified them more for Fable 3. I would almost say, in some cases, that Fable 3 is too simple. The spell casting, for instance, is simple enough to be limiting.
Conversely, the world of the games has expanded quite nicely. Fable 1 is very limiting; you have to stay on the path or in the town. Fable 2 opens up and lets you explore, but it's almost predictably. If there's an off-the-path area to explore, there's something there worth exploring for. Fable 3 seems much more organic. As long as it's not too steep, you can go there. That doesn't mean there will be anything for you there, just that you can explore. It makes it feel much more natural, because you're really searching for things.
Fable 3 is just as irreverent and funny as the previous installments, in some cases more so. There are the usual ridiculous side quests and jokes about chickens. It's a little heavy on the hand-holding, and it took me a while to feel confident enough to strike out and explore on my own between quests. The plot is good, so far, though. I'm only halfway through.
