i love it! the american fella, captain or somthing is obviously bi-sexual. its quite cool keeping in mind its a prime-time bbc1 show, probably to do with one of the 3 writers having written queer as folk. ive not really spoken to anyone else whoose been watching whihc is a shame. its not typical sci-fi stuff, its really funny. )-: ill miss it when ( Read more... )

I've been watching it... the pop-culture refrences are pretty cool. I do like the way it refuses to take itself seriously. Although I do think you're pidgeon-holeing it a bit much with the 'queer director, camp script' idea... honestly...

i think the idea of keeping it light hearted was probably the imput of all 3 righters, i can only remember the name of one at the mo', russel t davies, and most of his episodes hae been rubbish. i think having a bi-sexual lead is probably due to the director of queer as folk, i cant imagine the other 2 ever considering this as an idea, but it works so well!

Hold on - Chris Ecclestone is bisexual? Really? Or am I getting the wrong end of the stick?

S-: i think it would be sensible to consider the american fella a lead considering he travels in the tardis and had his own futuristic reality television scenario!

I think Liam is talking about Captain Jack. In the next series his character will be nameless in preperation for a spin off seires called "Captain Who" which will involve a lot less travelling through time and space and a lot more driving round Yorkshire.

right! well my point was only that the american fella in dr who, who i think we can agree is bi-sexual is probably bi-sexual down to the fact that one of the writers wrote queer as folk. i wasnt saying that the show is camp or that this had anything to do with the QAF writer, only that the bi-sexual character was probably his idea. got it!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

On the same subject, the 60s Batman TV series was quite camp. You know what was ace, the new Batman film "Batman: The early years"
Loved the way it was realistic in a way that it could happen in real life, if only some billionaire would look into doing something like that. Richard Branson! Get off yer arse and start fighting crime!
