[So, he's come up with something. And he's on the beach, digging in the sand. The day's kind of cloudy, like a thunderstorm's coming.]

Almost... perfect.

[He brings his hands together, then sets them on the sand. Have a loud booming sound and a flash of blinding light, and Al FLIES back, to land on his back in the sand ( Read more... )

*mikoto had been on that side of town for whatever reason--the instant she sees the lightning come down she thinks nothing of it... until some guy goes flying right after. she doesn't hesitate to run down the steps onto the sand and over to al.*

Hey! Are you okay!?

[Oh shoot, sudden girl.]

Ah... yeah. That was on purpose.

On purpose? Are you crazy!? (Rather than that I'm surprised he seems fine...)

N-No! Uh...

[Al shifts, rubbing the sand out of his hair, then moves to where he was standing, touching the sand a moment ago, working his fingers into it.]

That wasn't really lightning. I was concentrating the charge in the air.

*mikoto follows after him--now that she has time to survey the damage instead of worrying about this guy, she realizes he wasn't lying. he didn't have any equipment with him that would attract any lightning. curious...*

And just why in the world are you doing that?

*she speaks firmly, as if she understands completely what he's talking about--because she does.*

[Al kneels down, motioning her over, and works his hand into the sand, gently digging in it until he touches something shining and swirled. Glass.]

Making this.

*she leans over, supporting her hands on her knees as she takes a look*

You're making glass...? What for? Also, there are less dangerous ways to do that, you know...

To sell. A job would keep me away from my brother, and I want to get enough money to start up a commissioning business. This type of glass sells for a lot.

W-Well, I've never actually done it before, so I had to sort of try it from scratch. There are other ways to do it?

*oh ho, ambitious*

No... I mean, there's nothing wrong with what you're doing, but people don't usually use themselves to...

bloodseal_soul August 12 2010, 04:27:26 UTC
Well... how do they do it?

Typically with lightning rods and wires.

Honestly, I'm surprised you're unharmed.

That sounds like a bunch of trouble, and really dangerous. Wouldn't that be hard to control?

Oh... ah, I wouldn't have done it if I hadn't worked out the theory completely first. I tweaked the array for a few weeks to be sure.

For the typical person, most likely. I'm pretty sure only skilled glass makers do it, anyway. But anything is dangerous when you're dealing with lightning. It's unpredictable, even if you plan everything ahead.

Well, that's not the case with me.

[Oh sudden grin.]

You can control lightning?

I'm an esper; an electromaster. I can manipulate electricity in general, lightning is no exception.

[Esper ping, so hard.]

Sounds like a really powerful ability.
