Summary: These things just happen to Germany and Veneziano in bed, somehow.
I kind of always wanted to write this up for the lulz after katia_chan made me think it, but it being me, I'd never end up writing the kind of story where I could sneak this scene in. So then it seemed short enough to use for one of those Tumblr ask-box-fic-memes (it had to be done in two asks even though I'd made it as spare as I felt I could afford, hah), and so I did, and so then I had no excuse not to polish it up a little further without worrying about character constraints. And so!

It's a Puzzlement
"Germany," Veneziano says suddenly, his lips brushing Germany's sternum in the way that always makes his skin tingle. He's paused in the middle of nudging open Germany's shirt, and his eyes flick up, but Veneziano doesn't pull back and he exhales all in one breath: "Germany, I lost one of your shirt buttons, don't be mad."
Germany--no, he is 'making love' with Veneziano, he is resisting the urge to sigh and scold and hunt the damn thing down right this instant. He sighs a little anyway and tells the both of them, "It doesn't matter. We can look for it later. Did you see where it rolled?"
Veneziano's fingers go still against Germany's stomach, which is strange because wasn't he insisting on removing Germany's shirt with his mouth before? "Um." Veneziano wets his lips. "Um, Germany, I swallowed it."

Epilogue: In the end, Germany is the kind of guy who keeps all the spare buttons they sew into your clothes in a safe organized place, so he was able to sew a replacement on after they were done in bed. At the time Germany fretted a lot but no harm done and Veneziano thought it was all very funny afterwards. So he told Romano later, only Romano didn't think it was hilarious...
