But science is the poetry of the cosmos, and math the song of our existence. What better topic for music than ruminations on the nature of the universe and our insignificant but courageous place in it?
As Carl Sagan said: "We are made of star stuff. For the most part, atoms heavier than hydrogen were created in the interiors of stars and then expelled into space to be incorporated into later stars. The Sun is probably a third generation star."
I think the most poetic thing I ever heard was from a scientist who said that in order for us to exist, stars had to die billions of years ago. Everything we see around us was created by stars going super nova, and they created through their death the very stuff we are made of. This includes comets, nebulae, flowers, animals, the sun, everything... we are all made of star stuff.
