Telectroscope
The BBC highlights this interesting art project in New York and London called the Telectroscope. Someone posted some really awesome pictures of the very Steampunk-esque device to one of the steampunk LJ communities. The New York Times also covered this from the other end. The whole project is made even more amusing by a fake wikipedia entry about the original inventor.
