Prom

Prom was so amazing.
What a great night. I had been dreading it, but it was just one of those nights that I'll be remembering for quite some time.
This will be a pretty long entry.

I had my hair done at Dosha, which I was kind of freaked out about. I thought that it'd take longer than an hour and would make me late to dinner, and I was worried that my hair wouldn't turn out very well. I was stupid to worry, I was only slightly late to dinner with Marika and Christina (that was largely due to the fact that we were stuck behind a student driver in the West Hills), and I was pretty happy with how my hair turned out. Unfortunately, the hair cost $45, which I still feel guilty about, because it was done for a grand total of 8 hours, but it was gorgeous, and worth it for one night.

Everyone went to Rachel Shabaz's house for dinner.
Everyone included:
Emily/Sam
Lindsey/Conor
Me/Heath
Rachel/Chris
Dinisha/Christine
Marika/Christina
Hannah
Paige

We Emily cooked us amazing pasta while dressed like Martha Stuart, and the guys and Lindsey hung out while the rest of us got ready.

All of the girls knew each other, but the dates were another story. I think that the guys all got along pretty well, and dinner was an excellent bonding experience. It was interesting because it seemed like we'd all known each other forever. Or at least it seemed so to me.

Then we drove to OMSI, where I realized that I hadn't told Heath that he needed to bring ID to get into the dance. He lives in Yamhill, which is equally far from Portland as Banks, and our parents were out seeing a movie (they're best friends. Cute, I know). So we either needed to find him ID or have his parents come to the dance to tell the admin that he really was Heath Mitchell. So we called our parents, but their phones were off. And we kept calling for like 30 minutes. Meanwhile, everyone's arriving and going to prom (which I planned) and we're waiting outside not dancing and hanging out with friends. It was good in a way, because we did a lot of talking, but I think that both of us were worried about the ID situation. The entire time we'd been joking about finding some random people to be his parents, and finally, out of desparation, we actually did. We kind of stalked this couple going to the Ominimax and explained our situation. They were so incredibly nice, and I think that they thought that it'd be fun to get us into the dance. So we went over to check in and I tried to be smooth and explain that my date didn't have his ID so his parents had come to let him in. But it was Mrs. Daschel signing people in, and after being like "Oh! That's so sweet of you to come all the way here!" she had a random idea, and said "So can I see your ID, just to make sure that he's yours?" And Oh God. I thought that I would die. Kate Thomason and Sister Linda were right there, along with Mrs. Melton and Mr and Mrs. Housley and all of these people who I respect SO much, and I thought that Kate would force me to resign from being a class officer, and that Sister Linda would suspend me. And the poor "parents" just froze. But somehow, the woman reached for her ID and mumbled something about the names not matching, and then I just started talking. I explained that Heath's mother had divorced Heath's dad and remarried, so neither of the names would match, because he had his father's name. I don't think that Mrs. Daschel knew what to think, so she was just like "Oh....Ok." And then, she had another wonderful thought, "Well, why don't you give your parents a hug for doing this for you!" And without missing a beat, Heath turned to his "dad," gave him a huge hug, and said "Thanks, Dad!" In *THE* most fake 50s way ever.

We were both unbelievably relieved, and it was just incredible. What a great way to start the night.

So we got into prom just in time for Thriller, which made my night. All of us danced (some better than others) for most of the night, and just had a good time. I did a lot of talking with Heath, and he's such a sweet person. We went outside for a while and just sat, and he put his arm around me, which was awkward in an un-awkward way. 1. I've grown up with him, so it was completely comfortable, but it was just like... Heath. 2. He has a girlfriend, and seemed a little conflicted about that all night.

Now I'm in a strange position, because I feel like I really should like him, but I don't. He's attractive and sweet, and a genuinely good person, but I just can't. I feel so much older than him. It's not that he's not mature, because he really is, I just feel like we're so far apart age wise. He is younger than me, but not significantly, but I guess that that just goes along with liking older guys. Which I guess is good, considering that he does have a girlfriend. But I'm slightly (not really) worried that we'll be seeing a lot more of each other. That's not really a bad thing, but that just leaves room for more un-awkward awkward moments.

So after prom, Heath left, and everyone else went out to breakfast at Shari's, which was fun, but I decided that Shari's isn't a great dining establishment (sorry if you're a fan).

Actually, I left out a minor detail of the night. Sam (Emily's date) and Paige made out during the last dance. While all of the rest of us watched. That was definitely an interesting part of the evening. Especially considering the fact that Sam is a religion teacher at Jesuit's son. Which I find ironic because he was really....eager all night.

That's all I can manage right now. I'm a little tired.

Love.

Annnnnd I'll post pictures later.
