One fine day

Wow everything has been happening so fast!  I feel like the days are just rushing by and there are never enough hours...

California is a strange place.  I feel like the people around me can tell that I am not from the West Coast... perhaps I just don't feel like I fit in yet.  To help ease myself into my new habitat, I have discovered some quilt guilds in my area :)  I have never been a part of a quilt guild before, and as someone new to the whole quilting experience the idea of a 'guild' seems a little bit like something out of a video game, but I want to give it a try!  Not only do the people seem nice, they have a huge library that members can borrow from :D  Yay!

California is also a sunny place- if skin is exposed, it will burn.  I am covered in sunburn- and not in places you would assume, either!  I'm talking about the tops of my hands, the 2 inches of neck between my shirt and my hair, the tops of my ears, the tops of my feet...  Weird places like that.  Fortunately I've been trained since young to always ALWAYS sunscreen my face, even on rainy days, so at least to the casual observer I don't look too strange :)

Lately I've been enjoying the Dortmunder series of novels by Donald E Westlake.  Critical thinking, this is not- but it is a humorous diversion, that is for sure.

I'm also planting my herb garden today!  Dill, lavender, basil, rosemary, thyme and a few flowers :)  I'm trying to grow them from seed, so we'll see how this goes...  My thumb isn't exactly brown, but I wouldn't consider it green, either!  I'll need some luck, I think :)
