In the morning, she wakes up early, even before the sun's out, and decides to go for a run since she can't fall back asleep. There's a route she takes that ends up at the Compound before she has to double back, and that's the one she takes today, deciding to stop at the kitchen so she can bring them back some coffee and fruit for breakfast. She packs all the food in the small backpack she brings with her and chooses to walk back, carrying both cups in her hands so she doesn't spill. He's still half asleep and confused by the time he hears the knock on his door. Ivanhoe is still firmly planted in his lap, though he does feel the cat's head turn toward the sound. He seems completely content to remain where he is, though, and Auggie frowns down toward him.

"There's a cat in my room," he replies, loud enough for her to hear him from behind the door. "Why is there a cat in my room?"

Because he has absolutely no doubt this is somehow her fault.

Switching the coffee to the inside of her hand, she uses the combination of the twist of her fingers and a bump of her hip to open the door, smiling almost instantly when it swings open to reveal the cat unceremoniously perched in Auggie's lap, his tail thrashing wildly.

"There's a cat in your room because you left your window open," she points out, "and besides, I think he's always had a soft spot for you, anyway."

She sounds amused. At least one of them are. And, okay, now that he knows what it was sleeping with him, he's not quite as irritated. But the cat had woken him up pretty abruptly, and he didn't want to make a habit of this.

"I barely even pet him, why would he have a soft spot for me?" he asks, making a face. Despite Annie now clearly there, Ivanhoe seems to have absolutely no intention getting up from his spot, even when Auggie tries to nudge him in that direction. "Go on. She's your owner."
