lj? what are you talking about?

I just realised it's been a good seven and a half months since my last post, and so much has happened since then that it's insane. I'm now officially done with my first year of uni and into the second, and definitely feel like there is more I don't know now than at the end of JC so that's a good thing. Coming to Auckland was one of the best decisions I've ever made, and I almost didn't make it - wouldn't have, in fact, if it weren't for Kel. I love you bb, and only having a few months together in a year is definitely not enough. She's that friend, the one who genuinely makes me better and I can't imagine life without.

Last semester was good - despite still living in O'Rorke I managed to avoid most of the perpetual inebriation (at least while in hall), buckle down, and get some serious work done. I finally got involved with UN Youth, and the other things on campus (about damn time, considering my degree). My grades were alright (4 out of 5 kinda keep me in contention for Law) and my classes were fun, so I'm hoping to be able to continue the rest of my degree like this.

Winter break started awesome: we (Kel, Jamie and I, and Keri and Jono) road tripped the South Island and it was the best holiday I've had in a while. Kel summed it up best when she said it was like ~*~STUNNING NATURAL BEAUTY~*~ interspersed with the usual Kel + G bullshit. Jamie and I did the highest bungy jump in the country (which wasn't scary at all; probably the opposite due to the sheer awesomeness of it all. There's so much more, I just don't feel like I can do it all justice in this post.

Then I went to Sydney for AMUNC - and together with the previous two weeks this made my whole winter break seem like three weeks out of a much luckier person's life. I met some great people - as well as people I'm dying to see again. That week has made me restless, and made me come back and start planning ahead to keep myself occupied better this semester. Fingers crossed, not going to articulate too much in case that jinxes things.

But yeah, I basically landed in Auckland last week dreading going back to the usual grind of uni and hectic inner city life, hating that so many people aren't here (Nicky, Lisa, Ben, Emily; plus all the people who left at the end of last year) anymore, and wanting to go back to Sydney/Singapore for a bit. It was a wonderful break, and I was more than lucky to have gotten to do all the things I did with the people I did, but now I'm itching to do something (already got plans in mind... we'll see how they go) truly relaxing over mid-sem break. (I'm thinking of a beach, with a book, and nothing to interrupt! Or of going away somewhere alone and just exploring. Or - well, who knows really.)

Going to Wellington this weekend to catch up with the family and hang out with my kid cousin at her birthday party. Knowing me it might just be half a year before I update again next, and with that in mind it's probably worth saying I miss you guys (if you're even here anymore - I know a great deal have migrated to Tumblr and the like) and truly regret not keeping in contact more! Will definitely try to be a better LJ friend.
