Yay!!! Lauren is picking me up Saturday morning and we're going to spend the weekend along with her grandparents at one of her Dad's houses in Paw Paw. I'm so glad I finally get to see someone in the flesh from State, it's been 2 months--FAR too long. I don't care if we sit on the couch all weekend and do nothing, it'll be great just to finally be with a close friend again. Being so secluded has been wearing on me whether I want to admit it or not. Yay!!! :Happy Dance: Oh dear god do I need school to start again if I'm this excited.
In other news, the moths are almost ready :maniacal insane look and drumming of fingers: Mwwwuuuhahahahaha. We shall soon sacrifice the virgins. Sacrifices must be made for science!
Did I get you to laugh? Maybe just a little one? If not, I shall try again some other time.
Since I live in the middle of nowhere, i.e. Fennville, I have a lot of time on my hands. I attempt to fill the empty spaces with reading. Recently, I just finished reading Margaret Atwood's (some of you might be familiar with her novel A Handmaid's Tale) latest novel: Oryx and Crake. This new one is another dystopian novel of sorts like the afore mentioned one, but this one seems far more plausible to me. Many aspects of this story hit far too close to home with our present society, such as the need for quick fixes and the everlasting search for immortality all coupled with human greed and superiority complex--all of which inevitably leads to disastrous consequences. This novel very much begs the question of How far is too far? in relation to our technology and our efforts to play god. I'm not a major fan of the human race to begin with, and this novel just gets me to thinking about what future we have and are creating for ourselves. If we don't start making changes and if we're not careful, we may very well end up in Oryx and Crake's world. Not a very pleasant thought.
Margaret Atwood has outdone herself this time, I must say. I recommend this book to anyone who has the time and desire to read. I hope someone gets a chance to read it, that way I can discuss it with someone.
