Fanfic: XMen (Movieverse), The Letter.
The Letter
Fandom: X-Men (Movieverse)
Pairing: Bobby/John
Rating: PG-13. Or so.
Spoilers: X2.

Author's Note: This is short. That's basically all I can say about it.
There's a letter on Bobby's desk that he will never open.
And on the top it says 'Dear Bobby' in John's unmistakable scrawl.
And it's in a white envelope, that's almost see-through, and Bobby can see the white piece of paper John's written on.
There's a letter on Bobby's desk and he will never open it. That doesn't mean he doesn't imagine what it says.
He can imagine the letter starting off with 'The first time I met you, I knew I was in love with you.' And then the next part, if John had spoken it, he would've laughed, and said 'Well, actually not really.'
After that it would go off into 'Do you remember when...' and other various memories he and John had shared together. And there'd probably be a 'Hey, do you remember that strange girl that came into our class? Oh, yeah, that was Rogue.' and then John would talk about her and probably go off into a rant about her that would end with 'I still love the both of you.'
And after that he'd apologize for hurting everyone in the fire, and he'd say something like 'Come on, Bobby, I had to do it. They had already killed Wolverine, and they would've hurt us.' And while reading it, Bobby would secretly nod in agreement.
After that it'd trail off into what else had happened, and he'd apologize again for leaving with Magneto, and he'd say how it wouldn't have worked out between the two of them, and he can imagine John pausing while writing that part, and can see him saying 'That's bullshit' but he continues anyway.
And he can see John pausing at the very end of the letter, erasing once, twice, three times to write 'Goodbye'.
And he can see him pausing again, a tear slowly falling down his cheek, and he can see John writing 'I still love you Bobby, I always will.'
And he can see John put the letter down on his desk.
But there's a letter on Bobby's desk that he'll never open and never read, because John never left one.
