My dad is so cute. He actually surprised me with a graduation gift. He insisted on having dinner with me, just the two of us last night. I was really worried, half expecting some bad news or lecture, I came up with so many excuses on why I can't go, but my dad insisted that the reservation cannot be cancelled, so reluctantly, I went.
My jaw dropped when I saw my dad walked into Montblanc.
"You must be the lucky girl!" The sales girl, Stephanie, greeted me with a warm smile.
She brought me to a seat, and presented a bracelet in front of me. I was too shocked to react. She helped me put on the bracelet. I stared at the shiny little thing dangling at my wrist, and I froze. I have absolutely no idea what to do with it. I realised I must have looked like an idiot, so I gave a nervous laugh. Stephanie, who looks near my age, explained to me what each of the charm represents. She went on to explain how my dad came by a week ago in search of a graduation gift for me. They went through lots of ideas, pen, necklace etc and finally settled on a bracelet that has a diploma charm to represent my graduation. My dad insisted that Stephanie should serve me when I come for the "fitting" so that I wouldn't feel awkward because we're both around the same age. He probably expected me to be to feel uncomfortable in shops like this, because friends who know me know that I would never spend so much on a luxury brand. So Stephanie actually stayed back after her working hours just to meet me!
That was not all. My dad told Stephanie to bring out two wallets, and asked me to choose which is nicer. I thought the wallet is for my mom, since her birthday is coming, but my dad said it's for me.
"For me?" I asked, my eyes widened.
And just like that, I went home with a new bracelet and wallet. I think Stephanie was right. I am the lucky girl.
