The Bayshore sale (which is like a Shoe Sale, but for geeks) was a joy.
I got up at 6:00 to meet Brad & Peter (who very wisely stopped to pick up coffee so they wouldn't be waiting when they got here at 6:30, but somewhat unwisely decided to open it, but the envelope was fine).
So we motored into Hamilton. Neither of them had decided to print out the directions, since I'd foolishly asked them both, leaving them to assume the other would.
We stopped at a hotel, where Pete (the friendly newfoundlander) picked up directions to the store.
To the WRONG store, mind you. We ended up getting to the Bayshore Hobbies branch with no sale.
Ah, well. After a quick Map purchase, we found our way there, where Rose (never a more aptly named one was there) was waiting for us, with tickets. Piet had tickets. He did not have his cell phone, as we'd attempted to call him about a hundred times.
Eventually, we met up at the Golden Griddle with Senor Pyat & two of his compatriots from his mythical Dundas game. It turns out Dr. Brian (not the goat smelling Brian) is a former High School buddy of The Evil Demo Team Leader.
Ah, it was like Christmas, sharing tales of his sinister incompetence (or is it incompetent sinisterness?). Breakfast was okay, although a greasy spoon, I'll remind all, would have been much cheaper, with the only possible drawback that Brad would have found himself lacking Steak with his eggs, or having a Greek Salad, but life is sacrifice and sorrow.
Then, back to the sale. We got in line, in front of at least one insane wargamer, and another who perched atop his milk crate.
We wound our way through teh game shop. No, literally. They set it up like some kind of concert line up/ fire death trap. I dread the thought of someone dropping a match, or a fuse busting. It would have been chaos.
I got a bit of a mini-hall. Got a copy of Harlequin (eBay), Renegades for Wraith, GURPS: Ogre, Dark Matter for Alternity, and a copy of Kara Tur. Finally, FINALLY, a copy of Kara Tur. $8, too. After a dozen auctions where the price capped out at $150 US, I gave up hope.
Now, I have to figure out just what I wanted it for again.
Afterwards, I got a HeroClix booster, and B snagged me a starter & a couple more boosters, as a somewhat late birthday present. Sweeeeeeet.
It's a fun game, too. I enjoyed it all to heck. B, Pete & I played it when we got back.
I got stomped, but it was a great learning experience. What I learned, for example, was that it sucks to face Probability control. The Avengers rock, though. I gotta get me some more of those.
Good X-Men tactic: Give all your wounds to Wolverine. Who then regenerates them.
Man, it makes me TINGLE, it's so cool.
