Today in Raw! Is! Lunar!

So, out of the electro-ether noizangel asked me if I'd like to see Raw on Monday. After she explained that she'd gotten access to a couple tickets via work, I was definitely down for it.

She allowed me & luciancarter to use her two tickets and went with one of her co-workers.

Live wrestling shows are always fun, and these were definitely the best seats I've ever had for one. I'm personally fond of the "so close you can smell the sweat" experience you get in community centres & bars, but I haven't been able to attend one of those in forever.

Anyway, last night's card was one of the kind that indicates that somewhere in the booking room someone decided that not treating your audience like crap still allows for decent drama.

So, we got Bret Hart winning a championship (and the crowd goes wild!), which also served to build heat for the new Hart foundation and Koslov & Steve Regal. Personally? I don't think Bret should be going anywhere near a ring. He's in worse shape than a lot of guys his age and older, and I am sure his is being diven to drinking.

And is it true that I'm the only one who enjoyed Steve Regal as a Real Man's Man?

We also go Edge vs Christian, which was awesome. Plus the ever evolving seduction of Koslov by Santino Morella. "If Ivan Drago and Rocky Balboa can be friends, why not us?"

Plus, pyro!

Sheamus (unnecessary H, shurely!) fought Cena. Not bad main event by any stretch, but it mostly served to get heat for the Cena/Batista I Quit match this Sunday.

A lot of cheap heat was sought from the hometown crowd. During host Buzz Aldrin's segment, they scripted him as giving a push to NASA, which came off a bit odd to the Toronto crowd. They then brought in a heel wearing stupid pants to be amusing, which he did, including asking if Canada even has a space program (To which I enthusiastically replied "Yes we do, you son of a bitch!"). He also asked Buzz if he REALLY landed on the moon, because he heard someone on the radio say they didn't. Cut to the footage.

Then we got a mixed tag team match with Gail Kim. Really, all we needed was Trish Stratus in a maple leaf bikini and it would have been perfect*.

Buzz was not the greatest host, but he did a good job. Really, he's not an actor by profession**, so he did a good enough job. Really, he's a fucking astronaut who rode a rocket to the moon. He gets to do whatever he wants. Even if I wonder if sometimes he regrets uttering the lines "Second comes right after first!"

The fun part*** was getting home afterwards. Since it was Raw & a Jays game last night, I parked at a GO station and took the train down. The fun part was fallign asleep on the train on my way into TO, thankfully waking up in Union Station 24 seconds before it departed. I'm pretty sure I'd prefer not to regain consciousness in Oshawa. Again.

Getting back was also fun, as I was only 90% positive which station I'd parked at. By the time we pulled in it was well past midnight, and Google maps gave me my best route home as back east on the QEW, north on the 427, and then back west on the 401. Yeah, I think that was quicker than overland.

* noizangel asked "Where's Trish, anyway?" to which I replied that Monday nights she teaches a hot yoga class. Please note, that is a joke, and does not necessarily indicate she teaches a Monday night hot yoga class.

** Or a dancer.
