So, for Christmas Cynra got me Fallout 3, and I think I've been pretty much playing it constantly since then.
It doesn't hurt that we have a new tv that seems to be exclusively dedicated to xbox & dvd watching (I offered to hook it up to the PVR, honest to God).
The game world is so deep that it's easy to get lost in it. I have a dog, and a giant mutant with a laser cannon who follow me around and help me fight evil. I'ved joined (or at least allied with) one of the last remnants of the US government, fighting another one.
I am also wearing powered armour and shooting ray guns. Pew.pew.pew.pew!
It's so much fun. I've completed the core game, and am playing through the DLC.
Interesting thing I noticed about the game. Your character earns experience points (XP) by performing various actions. You get a bonus to your XP by being well rested.
One of the early missions earned my character a nice house, where I can stow things and catch some shuteye.
I have decorated my house. I have added a medical bay, a chemistry set, a jukebox and a vending machine. I do not do these things because I like decorating my house. This is not a Sims game after all. I simply had more money than I knew what to do with. I was investing in merchant caravans after a while.
In my Megaton house (if you play the game, this will be significant to you) there is also a comfortable bed. I try to make sure my character gets a good eight hours of sleep a night (even though he probably can get by with two or three, I prefer to wander the wastes during the day).
However... I find myself playing the game (admittedly) kind of late. Such that by the time I slap in my mouthguard and wire myself to the CPAP, I'm looking at maybe five or six hours of bedrest, if I'm lucky.
So my character. In the game. Is getting more sleep. Than me.
Yeah, I think I like this game too much.
