Hmmm. That sounds like something Luke Cage would say at a crossover holiday party.
Man, I miss
seebelow's Christmas stuff. Shame the community died, and nothing rose up to take it's place in another place, perhaps in another blogging format.
Please go check out
the last December when there was awesomeness there. Oh, man.
I'm so glad Busiek got to do the JLA/Avengers crossover before they decided to let Bendis fuck up the Marvel franchise. And Meltzer fuck up the DC one.
Anyway, this past weekend was the week before Christmas, and I'm feeling it now.
Friday night was mostly prep work. Cynra & I picked up the turkey (a massive beast that blocked out the sun) as well as a turkey lifter (aka two pitchfork heads) and a pan.
Saturday consisted of preparing for the party, which for me was driving. A lot of driving. And packing things away, and then some more driving.
Honestly, I had to go out to pick something up after the guests had started arriving.
The bird (which, really, was huge) ended up being dismembered in being removed from the roasting pan. At the suggestion of
cinn48 the pan was filled with cider, which helped moisten the bird; the wings and drumsticks fell right off, with the torso going free.
Actual dialogue!
thebitterguy:
I don't know if that platter will be big enough to hold the turkey, with its giant wingspan.
CYRNA grabs THE TURKEY with the lifter, and it comes free from its limbs.
CYNRA:
That's not going to be a problem.
absinthe_dot_ca carbed the roast beast, rending each breast from the torso. Oodles of foods were to be had, and everyone had a good time. Huzzah!
Sunday turned out odd.
Kinra was going to join us at the Colisseum for an 11:20 screening of Avatar in Imax 3D (huzzah!). HOWEVER, the tickets we'd acquired on Friday for use on Sunday were apparently actually for a Saturday show (BOO!).
We endedup kibbitzing at the Chapters for a bit before heading home and watching a Rifftraxed version of NuTrek (fuuuunny! How funny? Check out the next episode of
Squideye and The Bitter Guy, not even CLOSE to finished) as well as watching Aliens on the new TV. How much better is the new TV than any other TV I've ever had? I've never noticed to this day, after what must be dozens of viewings, that Hudson had a soul patch. A tiny little thing, mind you.
We did not get to play Mag Blast, but an awesome dinner was had from Mint Leaf, the best Indian restaurant in Milton (and the surrounding area). Next time, two rices.
And now, to work.
