Busy weekend. Cynra & I had some guests over for veggie chili, Euchre (I won) and xbox. The batteries in the drum kit kept petering out, so we ended up not playing as much Beatles Rock band as would have been liked.

The chili went well; it was built (built?) with diced tomatoes instead of tomato sauce, so it was a bit thicker than I'm used to. To make up for the lack of meat I used kidney beans and chick peas (i.e. "the beans we had in the house"), and added a few chipotle peppers for heat. General consensus: Too much heat. Thankfully the couscous and tzatziki cut down on that fire. Rickard's White also helped.

I made (built, shurely!) the chili while Cynra and the guests played Scene it! I'm somewhat disappointed that the new (and as yet unacquired version) has (at least apparently) abandoned using Xbox avatars for the players (do I use enough parenthetical thoughts?).

Sunday was spent cleaning out the basement and preparing for the FanExpo dinner.

The basement has been in a fairly sad state of mess since we moved into the house. Boxes get moved down there and sit around, joining the boxes that were put down there during the initial move-in. We went through a bunch of boxes, mostly old magazines and teaching stuff, as well as various posters, including a couple I'm gonna hand off to madmanofprague.

The FanExpo dinner was good, and as always included a blood feud during the gift exchange. Cynra & I did not end up with a year's supply of popcorn again, but did get a Starbucks gift bag. Once again, we accumulate coffee we don't drink. Fun, eh? Maybe we'll break out the Mr. Coffee for the party on Saturday.

Last night we continued with basement cleaning. The blue bin is pretty full, and we found a box full of Cynra's old sewing and knitting experiments. We found that, if you leave a prospective outfit in a box for 25 years, you'll probably not want to wear it anymore ("do they even sell shoulder pads that big anymore?"). A debate was had to see if papjoemambo's establishment traded in ancient clothing patterns before we decided to give them to a friend of ours who's a seamstress.

Boxes continue to be broken down, and I found a Dr. Who Choose Your Own Adventure book. I wonder if they've played it on Tangency yet?
