Very tired this morning. The weekend was spent almost entirely in Montreal for Draconis.

The flights to and from were both problematic. Because one of their reps misinformed me, I got to wait for my WestJet flight for four hours instead of getting on an earlier one.

Draconis was an enjoyable show. Saw jkahane, Spross and thothmeister running and playing some games, and terheyt behind the desk.

Caught up a bit with lucien_soulban and Dr_kromm, and did a little prodding towards some stuff for FanExpo.

The GCBGB event went well. This was more a logistical dry run. I'm hoping that with some enthusiastic promotion, we'll get good attendance in the 2010 cons. I ended up doing more socializing and networking than gaming in scheduled events. I did get to play some Alhambra and watch a bunch of games (got to get me Galaxy Trucker). I'm filled with jealousy that the Quebec map for Power Grid is only available in the French version of the game, and not as its own product.

Montreal was, as always, a joy to visit. Other than my breaking a lifetime record of "never being propositioned by terrifying prostitutes", I had a good time even if I never went more than a few blocks from the con hotel.

Friday night I went out for a walk upon arrival, and gave Cynra a call while standing outside some bar in one of the streets of Rene Levesque. At that point, a group of somewhat inebriated young men came out (one was the drunkest of them all!) and started asking me questions and pointing at the car next to me. I waved them away, not realizing that they apparently thought I was the driver of said vehicle, which was a cab.

The most English speaking of the group came to ask me if I was going to give them a ride or not, and I tried to (gently) let them know that I was not, in fact, a cab driver, and that the car was not, in fact, mine.

I got to grab breakfast at a Montreal Cora's with the GCBGB crew, and we're gonna see if I can get them in touch with browncoat_2x2 regarding event and staff T-Shirts.

Oh, amusing story. I woke up kind of early on Saturday, so I figured I'd give Cynra call. Well, she was asleep, so I ended up waking her from her rest, so that was a whoops. After a while, I strolled down to the GCBGB's crew room to see if they were still going out. Turned out they, too, were still asleep, having been up late playing games (and if I hadn't been out being accosted by drunkards and prostitutes I could have joined in), so I went back to my room to wait a bit and catch up with them later.

So, yeah, naturally I fall asleep. They eventually knock on my door, but I've fallen asleep on my hands, so they are completely numb. I get to then enjoy the wonder of trying to put on my glasses while being unable to feel anything. Creepy.

I grabbed some late dinner from a nice Indian buffet place around the corner from the hotel. Since it was Diwali, they were pretty busy, and as I was leaving I saw them putting down reserved signs on tables. Apparently a party of 60 (!) was coming in for dinner, so that would be a bit of a busy night.

Sunday morning I woke up with the normal result of a con hotel and no CPAP, the strange itching/swelling in the back of my throat. Thankfully it wasn't as bad as the first time it happened at FanExpo, but it caused a little discomfort.

Judging by the fact my snoring could be heard in the hall, I presume that aggravated things. Once I got a cup of tea from a Timmy's in a gas station across from the new Bell Centre, things improved significantly.

The Bell Centre looks nice, at least from the outside.

Sunday was spent kibbitzing with some of the con staff and dr_kromm. I picked up an nWoD book for myself (Tales from the 13th Precinct) and a Paranoia book for kinra (episode six gets recorded this Saturday!), as well as completing my Dawning Star collection by getting the module I was missing.

Sunday afternoon was spent visiting The_adzo and his family and giving them a hand with unpacking the house. It was great to see them, especially their little girl, who's just a sparkplug of cute. I got to read her some Mr. Men stories before bedtime. That was fun, and emotionally devastating.

The Air Canada flight home was delayed, which was made worse because it was a late flight. On the plus side, they gave us free booze. God bless you, Air Canada.

I got home around 1:30, and started up a load of laundry and hit the hay, CPAP firmly strapped to my face.

So, today I'm fucking exhausted.

On the plus side, I have Vol 1 of The Complete Bloom County (and, wow, I can see why they left some/most of it out of the books) and Unseen Academicals to read.
