My Weekend! What I did with it!

So Saturday Cynra had her semi-regular Euchere day, which meant I got out of the house for a bit. Since Mike's out of town, I got together with an old friend from work and we hung out a bit.

Honestly, it's odd how easy it is for me to forget that patios are just awesome. After lunch at the renamed Movenpick we grabbed a couple drinks at the Miller Tavern, which is a nice location, even though I can't speak to their food.

Even if the food remains a mystery, sitting in the sun with a drink in your hand remains a delight.

I got sent out to pick up some strawberries from the farmer's market, and decided instead of one or two pints to just get a flat. That was a lot of berries, folks. We'll get them prepped and frozen soon, except for the ones that were eaten immediately or turned into smoothies.

With judicious berry buying/freezing through the Milton farmer's market, we should be good for the next year or so.

Getting home, the Euchere party had pretty much broken up, with the exception of Margaret, so we got some Chinese for dinner, played a few games of Tsuro, and introduced Margaret to Peggle.

Which, amusingly enough, she's really really good at. She was racking up XBL acheivements at a pace I found just a wee bit embarassing. I was tempted to play a game of Scene It! to regain my manliness.

Sunday was fairly quiet. Cynra & I wanted to go see Up! again, but the showing we went to seemed to be sold out, or at least removed from the schedule, so we went home via the local Play n' Trade. While there, I saw a copy of Halo Wars (how the hell does a video game Wiki entry need 114 footnotes?) on at my preferred price (i.e. less than $40), so I grabbed it. Little did I know that one of the freebies you got with it was the new Mythic map pack.

If I can ever get another Halo day together (SLACKERS!) we'll play those levels.

The trailer for Prototype was playing in the background, and I must say it was a very... intense looking game. Cynra was not impressed.

We'd initially gone in to see if they had Ghostbusters, which they did, but the new frugality put it on the backburner for now.

After I burned through the tutorial and some levels, Atomiks came by to take a look at the PC in the basement (which sounds like a really lame horror film). Verdict was that it was dead, Jim, so the suggestion was to burn it to the ground. Or not.

We did take in another showing of Up!, which led to tears and people shouting about squirrels. That's hazardous when you live in the country.

I've once again left the seeding too late, so my tomato plants are just now ready to plant, and I think none of the others are going to go in, except possibly the carrots. Root vegetables just don't work for me.

And don't get me started on my corn. Or my watermelon. So sad.
