tfbretz posted to RPG.net yesterday that
Ghostbusters was celebrating it's 25th anniversary yesterday. Man, that was an awesome movie.
I saw it with my friend Owen and his stepmother in a (long gone) drive in theater on Bath road in Kingston. It did scare the heck out of me, let me tell you. I've seen it and its sequel dozens of time in the intervening decades. In fact, one local Napanee rental store had such a paucity of selection that I rented that film several times.
The film is intrinsically connected with its theme, written and performed by
Ray Parker Jr.. Parker's musical career, which did last for several decades and has found itself rekindled in 2001, had a high point with that song, and I honestly cannot remember another song he has performed. That makes him a one hit wonder in my book.
But, and here's the question, has any other one hit wonder acheived an equal level of prominence? Have any of them reached a level of pop cultural cachet? I think not.
So, loyal readers! Answer my question! Is Ray Parker Jr. the greatest one hit wonder of all time?
Poll Busting DOES make me feel good!
