So, I watch americas next top model. yes. its shocking.
more shocking is an issue that is coming up in this season. namely, female genital mutilation. a contestant from somolia, fatima siad, is basically running so that she may be a role model for girls in somolia and speak out against FGM. she was mutilated at seven years old.
i think its really cool of her to try to do this and she came in talking about it from episode one. i also hope she gets heard. in a lot of foreign countries, western shows like antm are exported (sometimes forcibly, under freetrade deals) and girls may see this.
weirdly enough, ive looked online for reaction to this in more major publications(like, not just on forums) and i found pretty much nothing. hm.
